About
Amber Cove is a port destination and cruise terminal that's popular with travelers visiting the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. It's a great place to stop and do some duty-free shopping, with plenty of deals on clothing and souvenirs. But that's not all—you can also soak up the sun by the pool and swim-up bar, or rent a cabana by the beach. If you're feeling adventurous, you can take a snorkeling tour to explore the vibrant Caribbean reefs. The rainy season is from May to October, so visit in the dry season for the best experience. – Tripadvisor

    Nice Cruise Port
While we have land vacation in the Dominican Republic a number of times; this is the first time in the Puerto Plata area. The cruise line did a good job with their cruise port "Amber Cove". They have activities that can be done there and there are excursions to the surrounding area. Of course they do have a number of shops that you can browse around.

    Nice stop
First of all you should know that there is no beach in the safe area. You have to leave the safe zone to go to a sandy beach and at this time that is not recommended. The free resort area has everything you need for a fun day. There is a big pool and free lazy River and water slides are free too. The chairs were free with umbrellas extra. Bathrooms and resort areas were clean. For a fee there is a zip line at 30$ per person. Drinks and food were resort prices. Shopping is typical. There was a hill to climb with a bar and beautiful views on top. The grassy area was nice for a quiet nap. Overall a nice day. We carried cash for gifts, ice cream and cold sodas 3$.

    It was okay
Nice lazy river. Reasind the reviews the site and reviews the water slide was was free. Now that want to charge $5.00 per person to ride. Every other time we had visited you only had to pay for zip line. Now I even had to pay for an umbrella att chairs. Not happy

    It's just a Cruise port
Amber Cove itself is just a cruise port. Albeit nicer than the other two we went on. But don't expect much but a lot of people trying to get you to go with them on tours. We had prearranged one and they were Fabulous. So glad we didn't wait until we got there.

    Amber Cove
Amber Cove was one of the ports of call on our most recent cruise. The cove itself is very scenic, surrounded by hills. The park is two sides. The first is a nice shopping area with a variety of stores and a few restaurants. The other side is a large pool with a swim up bar and a few waterslides. (There is also a zipline over the pool, which we didn't try.) We went shopping when we first arrived, the spent the rest of our time in port hanging out in the pool. It was a relaxing way to spend the day.

    Definitely give it a go
Excellent. We've been to the DR many times, but this was a first to Amber Cove and it definitely has a little something for everyone. Shops for those that want retail, places to eat for the foodies, etc. Water park area for those wanting poolside have great accommodations pool chairs, umbrellas, lazy river pool, poolside bar, bar and restaurant service from your lounge. It was well worth going especially since you only need to pay for what you want. No cover charges etc.

Friendly locals, lots to do and see.
We went to Amber Cove on a cruise. Very nice area. The locals are friendly and Ocean World is a must, especially if you have children! The staff at Ocean World were amazing and helpful with my son who is in a wheelchair. I highly recommend Amber Cove, with the nice locals, beaches, shops and Ocean World.

Great Port for exploring for cruise ship passengers
One of four stops during our 8 day Carnival Cruise. The waterpark and pools at Amber Cove make for a relaxing day for all ages. We rented two umbrellas and got two waterslide passes for our kids. (About $70) The lazy river and pools are clean and well kept. Us adults loved the swim up bar and attentive service by all staff. Restaurants on site from hotdogs to seafood. A little something for everyone. They have water sports activities for extra $$ or rent a private poolside cabana or one over the water. The shopping at Amber Cove offers something for everyone from souvenirs to diamonds and rum. The property is spotless, no beggars and we felt perfectly safe the entire time we were there. Overall a big thumbs up and a great way to spend the day!

Nothing here but loud music, overpriced stores and restaurant/bars, a few beach type chairs to sit on in the blazing sun. Back on the ship in 30 minutes.

I want to express the most warmest appreciation and kindness from Massiel and Evelyn at Diamonds International. They really made me feel like family not just a customer. They really went over and beyond the call of duty. I have been singing there praises ever since I left. I will continue to tell every I know about Diamonds International @ Amber Cove, DR. I look forward to my next time to visit. Although Massiel has only been with D.I. a short time I think she has excelled in that short time and Evelyn is a great teacher.

Thanks Ladies so much.

This is a great new spot to stay during your time in port. It is beautifully appointed, great, food, excellent service, and options for all ages. We rented a cottage over the water for the day. The staff went above and beyond with excellent service from the moment we walked off the boat. Emmanuel, Isasias, and many others were so helpful. The food and beverages were fantastic. The residents of Dominican Republic are some of the most kind people in the world. This is my second visit in 14 months and I would choose DR over Mexico in a heartbeat!

This port has shopping, food and a swimming area with private cabanas that you can rent. Also has zip lining over the ocean as well as water slides.

The port is really pretty. They have people driving bicycles that can give you a ride. It has shops right off the boat within walking distance of the cruise ship. The shops are spotless. Somewhat reasonably inexpensive. Very helpful people. Plenty of restaurants. Carnival cruises are the owners of this port. People are really nice. I really enjoyed the visit.

Overcrowded, expensive and added charges . This was a stop for our carnival cruise. So stressful. There are multiple ships dumping into this port. The pool is small and they charge you for everything. To get an umbrella- $40. The pool was a joke. So many people in it, you could not get in. AND it is unsafe. That many people in a pool is chemically unsafe. Additionally, lots of weed and booze, over served. Not a place for families that carnival claims to target. Do not book a cruise to this port, or plan to stay in the ship!
