This fort was strategically built to stop the pirates from invading. It is a work of engineering for that time. Strong and every night at 9 PM they put on a show where the cannon goes off exactly at that time.

Easy to get to by the local ferry to Casablanca and a nice stroll up a hill. The crowds were missing when I was there and a fun hour+ wandering the old fortress with a great view of Havana.

If you come via cruise ship this is the first stroke sure you will see. If fantastic fort built to protect the entrance to the bay in Havana. Partly renovated and still beautiful .

Stopped here because I collect lighthouses. We had been here in April and returned in November. Unfortunetly both times the lighthouse had scaffolding on it. It does light up. You can see it from the Malecon. Great old fort to visit.

Here you walk a lot, so it is better to bring sunscreen, comfortable clothes, and comfortable shoes. There are attractions such as the cigar shops and the wall that faces the sea, and the terraces facing the city. An interesting site, part of a normal...More

We did not go into El Morro, but there were cannons and battlements on the outside that we walked near. Great view of the water from the fort and gives you a good understanding why this fort was so important to protect Havana from attacking...More

We went there alone, not a tour, it took several hours to view this magnificent site, we went there from Centro Historico using the ferry thus approaching the old fortress by foot. The view from its walls toward Habana is really superb. If you have...More
