Not worth the drive

The car ride from Yueyang city to Dayun mountain national forest 大云山 took about 2 hours drive through narrow hillside roads , barely wide enough for just 1 car . I would not recommend overseas visitors to China to undertake this car journey without a local guide . On arrival at the Da Yun mountain , we were confronted with a collection booth for an entrance fee of 38 RMB per passenger and 20 RMB per car . What a rip off ! From the gate booth to one of the ancient temple called ZhenJun Temple which was built during the Northern Song Dynasty 2,000 years ago . Before the ZhenJun Temple ,there is another temple with an orange color roof which I was told , is also pretty old . But it has a nasty commercial streak from the temple management . In this temple , Offerings to pray for family welfare etc come in various prices according to the devotee budget or wallet . The cheapest offering to pray for family welfare peace and happiness is 168 RMB . It was a steep climb to the ZhenJun temple from the base and in the temple compound there is a further two other temples , one small and the other a larger one . The smaller temple looks a bit older with its low ceiling and solid stone walls . There is no visible relics or sculpture to indicate that the ZhenJun temple was built during the Northern Song period . Unfortunately the English inscriptions describing the temple on a stone tablet for the ZhenJun temple were barely legible . Not worth the entrance fee of 38 RMB per person but most importantly it is not worth the 2 hours drive through small hilly villages with big farmer mansion type of houses , spreading out their rice Padi ( husky rice ) to dry on windy narrow hillside roads .
