Take the narrow and often busy Howtown road from Pooley Bridge and cross the final cattle grid by the steamer pier to climb the twisty and exciting narrow road up to Howtown Church. Even on a busy bank holiday there is ample parking and from...More

Very nice and reasonably easy trek from the Ullswater ferry in Howtown. Don't be discouraged. Reasonably steep grades all the way to the top with several plateaus. No rush. Just wait til you get to the top. YOU will be glad you kept going!!!!

This was a wonderful walk with beautiful scenery. We parked at the church’s area and walked opposite straight up the hill.

This was a great little day out. We parked at the church just opposite of the walk up the hill. Doesn’t take very long and walk is pretty easy. Well worth visiting!

Steep walk up totally worth it for the view across Ullswater. A nice short loop for a taste of walking starting from the car parking opposite Martindale Church. Good trainers or similar sufficient footwear when the weather/ground is good.

We reached there by 5pm [parked at the church]. We have a 4 year old and 8 year old. It took us 30 minutes to reach to the Top of the Mountain. It was worth the Hype as it has probably the best view of...More

We parked in the church car park and climbed Hallin Fell with a four year old and a six year old. Their first 'mountain'! It was just the right length of climb to feel like you've achieved something when you get to the top without...More

The new 'Ullswater Way' runs around the base of Hallin Fell, by the lake of Ullswater. To get to the top you have to go inland, from the road on the south side of Ullswater (or the steamer on the lake to Howtown) and climb...More

You can park by Martindale church (free but not a huge car park) or in Pooley/Glenridding/Aira force and then take one of the steamers to Howtown to walk up Hallin Fell - it's practically a 360 panorama from the top, well... More
