we wish more of the park had been opened, but Devastation Trail gave us a feel for the region, and the walk is short. We also finally some a couple nene!

Not sure what to say, other than it is worth the trip. It shows the devistation a valcano can cause.

Wasn't one of the better walks / things to see in the national park. We went and took a quick pic, as a lot of the park was shut off due to recent eruptions and it was ok to see.... But if you're short if...More

A short walk out of the forested area scathed with thriving vegetation in to see a complete barren landscape. Makes you appreciate the resilience of nature as it reclaims the land and sheer power of the volcano to wipe out everything.

Lots and lots of lava. Interesting seeing the vegetation slowing starting to grow again. Didn't really see anything very exciting.

I didn't walk the trail, i just took pictures. It is a long walk and there are many better trails in this park. Nonetheless it is a required stop in Volcano National Park

This hike won't make you stop every few feet to marvel at the sights. thinking about what happened here in 1959 gives you a new appreciation for the power of volcanoes.

Long path trail If you do the whole thing, we didn’t, we did a quarter of it until we could see the crater. To look at the crater it was cool , you could see the crevices and the lines of previous lava movements.

The thing I found fascinating about devastation trail and most of volcano national park is the amount of flora right next to devastation and the amount of time it takes for life to return. This is a short hike and worth the stop.
