Middle Prong Trail offers beautiful views the entire way. We are fit but not great climbers so the gradual elevation gain on the trail was perfect for us. There are a lot of photo opps along the way. Indian Flats Falls is a nice place...More

We found this trail by accident. We wanted to try Spruce Flats Falls but went straight instead of taking the turn off to the institute. We were glad we found it. We only went part of the way before turning around but the part we...More

This 8 mile round trip (out and back) trail is wonderful for families. The path is wide enough for several people to walk side-by-side, has a gradual incline going out, and offers so many picture opportunities. The trail is pretty rocky, so sturdy shoes are...More

We loved all the scenery on this hike. The water, boulders, butterflies and more. This was a somewhat uphill hike so it would be good to be in shape as you hike uphill for quite some time. We really enjoyed stopping along the way to...More

This was my third trip to the area in the last nine months, each time to participate in a photo workshop at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont, and each time I have spent at least a day photographing the rocks, riffles, and waterfalls of...More

This is an easy walk in the woods. The trail was previously a paved road. It's wide and follows the river providing many photography opportunities.

The drive to get to the trail head is half the fun. The Tremont road turns to gravel and traces the middle prong of the Little River to the trail head. Cross the rushing stream and hike an old rail bed up the middle prong....More
