You can be above the Colorado river without being in the river lol. We were soooo lucky to meet a man on the bridge who works for The Peregrine Fund who tracks and cares for the California Condors, the largest North American land bird. We saw a condor “chick” and momma bird just casually hanging out on the cliffs of the canyon. Besides being such an impressive location, learning about these magnificent birds was special.Visited January 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten January 22, 2023

We were able to also see and take some photos of some California Condors while visiting this interesting location. We'd like to visit again some day and spend more time thee. Pick your time wisely as the summer heat can get extreme.Visited August 2023Written August 20, 2023
- melwashere81Cleveland, Texas1,202 contributionsBeautiful sceneryOur GPS took us down a long scenic road, and we came upon this bridge by total accident. I'm so glad we did because the scenery here is breathtaking. It's free. You just park and walk out on the bridge and take some pictures. Be careful not to be out on the bridge during a lightning storm. It was raining slightly while we were there but thankfully no lightning.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 8, 2023

When we pulled into the parking log and got out of the car we immediately saw six California Condors in the air just downstream from the bridge. When we walked out on the old bridge we were able to observe four more perched (one was playing with a piece of rope) under the bridges. This is a beautiful way to see the upper end of the Grand Canyon and the last place to drive cross the river until the Hoover Dam.

Nice place to get out and walk across the bridge to stretch your legs. There are restrooms and a gift shop also. There is no charge to walk across the historic bridge.

We stopped at Navajo Bridge enroute from our rafting trip down the Colorado River below the Glen Canyon Dam on our way to Bryce Canyon, all part of our Tauck "America's Canyonlands" trip.
It was worth the stop!
The building of both to footbridge and the highway bridge was a remarkable achievement. The views from the overlook by the Visitors Center, as well as along the bridge over the Colorado River are stunning, and easily accessed. California Condors nest among the bridges, and were easy to spot and photograph.
I'm not sure if I would recommend going far out of your way to visit this if you seen other Canyon sites, but it's certainly worth the visit if you're nearby. They have a very good Visitors Center and restroom facilities.

This was a cool stop. I liked the look of two bridges next to each other and it felt a little romantic. The history of it was cool too and I could see it being a cool spot to linger if we weren't in a crazy heat wave
