For our group of 4 (1 adult and 3 kids ages 13, 10, and 6) in late July, this was probably our least favorite hike (our favorites were the Notch Trail, Cliff Shelf Trail, and Door Trail). The trail is entirely made up of boardwalk...More

This is more of a museum exhibit than a trail. It's a boardwalk loop with some signs containing information and metal replicas of fossils that I guess were found at the site or at least in somewhere in the park. Other than that you see...More

This is more of a boardwalk rather than a trail. Its extremely short and easily navigated, but was underwhelming in our opinion in its viewing of fossils. The best thing about it was its access to several hills to climb on that had nothing to...More

This is a nice short trail that is a good place to get out and stretch your legs while driving the loop. The trail is all boardwalk and had some interesting signs about fossils found in the badlands. My 6 year old was fascinated by...More

The kids loved scampering over the hills and enjoyed the trail. We also heard the ranger talk about the history of the badlands, recent fossil finds and discoveries.

The Fossil Talk in the Badlands is held at 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM. This a eye opening review of what the Badlands had once been and the sea life that inhabited the area. A must visit.

The boardwalk trail is fairly level and relatively short, so it can be complete either quickly or at a slower pace depending upon your desires. Several different displays have sample fossil pictures or brass? models for individuals to touch. Also, if you wish you can...More

For a nice short hike in the Badlands, hike around the fossil exhibit trail. There are several fossils on display around the loop. The trail is flat and very easy to walk.

After all the rain it made it easier to spot fossils. We heard the ranger speak about how to look for them and the different types one could find. This trail is not one I was able to use my electric wheel chair on. The...More

We stopped here during our drive through the park. This was a good stop for the kids (ages 5 and 1.5) as the boardwalk trail is very short, and they can touch the replica fossils on the informational plaques around the trail.
