This trail met with the Saddle Pass trail that we started on. We took this trail to the Fossil Trail to listen to the ranger give a talk on the fossils. Take water.

Do at least part of this trail; we did about a mile or so and LOVED it. Photos don't do it justice. We hikes up the short strenuous trail to link into Castle and are so glad we did. All kinds of different views; cactus...More

We did the Castle trail to Saddle Pass then returned via Medicine Loop. This worked perfect so that we started and ended at the same place. The hike is several miles long. With a couple breaks, took us just over 3 hours for the whole...More

10 mile round trip, very well marked trail through formations as well as grassland. Mostly level terrain, moderate difficulty. Bring water, especially if its 102 degrees like it was I was there. There other connecting trails if you're not into the full 10 miles.

We had been taking 7-8 mile walks regularly to prepare for this. On an 88 degree day with 2 water bottles and a camel back, we still only made it from the east trail head to Saddle Pass and then came back through Medicine Root....More

Quite easy for the most part though my pole came in handy once or twice. Remnants of the rains but plank paths helped.
