We loved this hike on the quiet side of MDI. We went up counterclockwise and loved the amazing views along the way up to the fire tower. We encountered only ten or so people throughout the hour long hike- amazing given the big crowds closer...More

This was the first trail that my girlfriend and I hiked when we vacationed on Mt. Desert Island. It was classified as a moderate hike but we were unaware of the amount of granite rock that encompasses the mountain trails in Acadia National Park. We...More

We did 4 hikes while in Acadia National Park - Beech Mountain was probably our favorite. We did the full loop - went up the shorter route (0.4 miles) and came down the longer (0.7). Shorter route is pretty steep, the longer path is more...More

This is our favorite hike in Acadia (and we have done most of them over the last 35 years). The hike is moderately challenging but no scary ledges. When you get to the top, the views are just wonderful. And, if the fire tower is...More

Hubby and i were just checking out different areas, and decided to just walk this trail as far as we could or wanted. We almost got to the top but my knees started hurting, so we came back down. Definitely need to be sure footed!

We enjoyed hiking up (and also down) this trail. Be aware it is quite rocky on one side. The views were great of lakes, mountains, and the ocean.

This was more strenuous than the other hikes we've done this week. But it is more than feasible for people of all ages and ability levels. The hike was well marked, well maintained, and the fire tower lookout gave great views of the MDI region....More
