It is always great to stop by Mećavnik and have a nice cup of coffee or have a breakfast. Always pleasant staff and just such a peaceful and beautiful place to visit.

We visited this fashionable touristic village connected to Emir Kusturica, movie director, paid a ticket in amount of 3 EUR and saw monuments to film with houses dedicated to Fellini, Visconti, Belluci, Gagarin, Andric, Tesla, connected with presentation of Serbian traditional life. It is photogenic, but not really genuine. It is inspiration to many similar projects across former Yugoslavia. I bought some brandy on the market, though.…

Little treasure and great hidden place. We stayed three nights and we will be back. Food was great and our room. People very friendly.

This is an interesting place to visit. The attraction has multiple names including Kustendorf, Drvengrad and Mecavnik. It was built for a film created by the Serbian film director Emir Kusturica called “Life is a Miracle.” The film was successful and won multiple awards at Cannes, Russia, Italy, etc. The success of the film allowed the director to think about keeping the buildings he created for the film and re-purposing them as a hotel, restaurant and destination location for film lovers. We found the place fascinating. There are great views all around and many people just come for the restaurant and bar. Apparently the place is packed in January because of the film festival. There is a nearby ski resort as well.…
