About
Harkening back to the quieter, more intimate Osaka of the 19th century, small food shops and historic souvenir purveyors lie under paper lanterns on each side of the narrow, stone-paved lane.

A good experience
Jun 2021
If you ever visit Osaka, it is worth to walk around the alleys. It is a nice place to spend some time, as it is full of restaurants that offer traditional japanese food.

Worth a walk!

Strange find in the middle of a shopping street. Narrow alleyways with lots of tea rooms, walking tours are available and you can go in the tea rooms but there are so many rules and Japanese etiquette your expected to follow despite not knowing the expectations before you go in.
Restaurants here quite expensive but it’s the atmosphere and Japanese culture is what your paying for.

Lovely Walkabout

Wander around the alleys in this area- you'll feel like you've walked into the past and you'll find some gems. Along the covered walkway there are alleys leading off. The lead into small pockets of old Japan with shrines, temples and quaint little restaurants

Peaceful escape from the buzz of Dotonbori
Mar 2019
Hozenji Yokocho is a narrow alley lined with small restaurants. It has much more of an old-Japan, Kyoto-style feel than the rest of the area, and is a nice antidote to Dotonbori.

Strolling through this alley takes you to a whole new ambiance of old Osaka. Hozenji Temple is nearby so don't forget to visit.

Nice area for a stroll down small alleyways with restaurants
Apr 2019 • Couples
This area consist of small alleyways with shops and restaurants in sharp contrast to the nearby bustling Dotonburi. Came here at nightime after walking through Dotonburi and enjoyed the relative quiet. Didn't try any of the reaurants but the area looked like a place to have a nice dinner. Somewhat similar to the Gion area in Kyoto.

Peaceful alley way
Dec 2018 • Family
This is a peaceful alley way as compared to the busy Dotombori. There are some shops and restaurants here. There is also small temple within the vicinity, which is worth a visit too.

Come here at night as you can see the lanterns and the place lit up.
