Neighborhood: Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.

This ended up being more of an "experience" than an educational visit to an aquarium. It was crowded and unnecessarily high-tech, with lots of neon and mirrors and music. There wasn't much information about the various species, either (with the exception of an interesting display of various stages of jellyfish growth). However, they do have some beautiful and unusual animals, including fish I've never seen before anywhere.

The dolphin show is...well, a dolphin show. It's fun but, again, you won't really learn much about the creatures that you're watching.

Interesting aquarium where we could see fascinating jelly fish, sharks and saw fish in huge aquarium. Though the place was crowded with school children, the venue was large enough to host many people. It is located close to a five star hotel and places where one can relax and eat there. The entrance fee is ok and it was a cool place to spend an hour or two. We liked it.

This is a public aquarium on a slope right beside Shinagawa Prince Hotel at the Shinagawa station.

DOLPHINS' SHOW, CROWD CONTROL:
They are most famous for their dolphins' show and you need to reserve tickets in advance, AND be at the show probably 45 minutes in advance or there will be no seats or even standing space left. The show itself was 15-minutes long and the dolphins truly performed very well. Talking about crowd control, the narrow 20-metre hallway leading to the dolphins' performance area was so crowded that we were worried that a potentially dangerous crowd crush could happen. The management really needs to hire more manpower and enforce better crowd control, especially during peak seasons. We were there on Christmas eve.

AQUARIUM, BAR AREAS:
Honestly, the animals looked rather healthy, and many of them looked above-average in size compared to those in other famous aquariums in the region (e.g. Singapore's SEAquarium) we'd been to. For example, the sawfish (a ray species) was an impressive 5-metre long. Pros and Cons though. Because of the large animals, it was easy to catch sight of many them in the "Wonder Tube" tunnel. However, it makes you wonder if that means their living quarters were too tight. We saw a good-sized clownfish of about 15-centimetres, which was struggling to find coverage in a 15-centimetre coral all encased in a brightly illuminated, all-glass bar table of approximately 40-centimetre diameter. The clownfish seemed... scared.

Kids will love this place.
They have numerous land creatures too.
Probably better to visit during off peak seasons.

Visited as staying nearby in Prince Hotel. show you room card and receive a discount. Wandered through all the areas saw an array of jellyfish. sharks. tiny fish. neros. and stingrays etc in the glass tunnel. Saw the dolphin show. the times of the show are advertised. It was very good with a water feature. staff all dressed up some of who enter the water with the dolphins. Normally don't visit shows like this but they are also involved in the research of dolphins. also mamaged the furry animal show which was a sea lion. shown their fur is smooth snd rough. The children all enjoyed the amimal shows

I came here with my grandchildren, I thought it would be a lovely experience but they were on their bloody phones the whole time. Kids don't understand anything these days. I loved the aquarium and the cute dolphins, I always wanted one and so did my grandchild koda. However he tried to jump in and we had to leave.

My husband and my daughter ran a marathon at Charlie Watts reserve at night. It was on old mountain bike trails, very tricky through bushland.

Right across the JR station, you will see a mall then keep walking until to see the Shinagawa prince hotel. And the park is just beside it.
