Visited the palace on a visit to karaikudi. Utterly disappointed that the person did not allow us to enter saying the entry is closed to normal people since 2011. We can see people inside and when we enquired the person's were not answering properly and...More

What beautiful houses....they go from one street to the other....humongous and yet very pretty. Chettinad, rich in cultural heritage, art and architecture, is well known for its houses that are embellished with marble and Burma teak. The houses have wide inner courtyards and spacious rooms....More

Marvellouse looking style of mansion. Burma wood used to built. Titles also look great . Too old mansion.

We were taken on a guided tour of this mansion by Ramu from the Visalam Boutique Hotel. It was amazing to see the incredible decor and the beautiful floor tiles, which were made locally. We were fortunate to also visit the place where these tiles...More

This house is now more famous for film shoots and is called Athangudi glass palace (because of rows and rows of Mirrors from Belgium) in the central hall..imposing entrance with ornate hood, this grand house is on main road in old Athangudi..near Karaikudi in Chettinad...More
