A wonderful drive through the mountains to get to this lake, where you can swim, take boat rides, sun bathe, eat great cafe style food and generally enjoy yourself, young or old.

We read that this lake was great for a swim and with temperatures over 100° F, we took the hour long drive here from Trevi which was our base. It would have been better to get there earlier as all the shady spots were taken by locals! We had planned to hike Lame Rossa but the sun was too strong. Later in the day we went for a hike nearby in Bolognola which wasn’t easy but is in the forest ! All in all a nice day. I would suggest avoiding the swimming spot n° 1 which is like a crowded beach day ! There are less crowded spots further along towards the dam.

What a beautiful place! In the UK such a place would be mobbed but this was quiet, lovely scenery, water cool and refreshing with fun to be had on pedalos and canoes. There are some lovely restaurants. The drive in takes some time but is great fun; stop at the dam for a quick walk.

We went for a look at the lake. Where we parked and wandered down to the lakeside. One of our group went for a dip in the cool fresh water. The rest of us sat on the grassy bank and watched. Lots o f people and dogs made it a bit busy for us, but the views over the lake were pretty spectacular.

This lake is surrounded by mountains so you have to drive along many windy roads to get there, however, it is totally worth it! The views are amazing and there are many places to stop along the way 😃 we had a beautiful picnic here and it was idyllic
