There is another branch about 100 meters away from this "Ruyitang" to choose from.

Rich product range
For any product, you can ask the service staff to cut small portions of cakes for tasting.

The original sun cake, almond meat paper, and Mai Shao Q cake are all highly recommended.

When we went to Taiwan, my bro had requested me to purchase a particular famous sun biscuit “AMS”. As such I was determined to buy it without trying any other brands.
In Taichung, our driver, highly recommended RUYI sun biscuit, not once but twice and tried to persuade me to just go and try. I was sceptical, since I’m pretty sure some Drivers are tied down with sun biscuit shops to earn commission if they bring their guests to the shop. And since I found out there is an outlet of “AMS”near my hotel, I can just easily walk over to buy if I didn’t get any from RUYI.
When we arrived, I was impressed with the building’s exterior deco. Look so high class. In my heart, I was thinking, surely very ex and who knows the sales maybe pushy too. It wasn’t like those small traditional kind of shop.
The interior was nicely decorated, very welcoming environment. We were immediately seated to an empty table, served tea or coffee. A pretty lady then came to served us and introduced to us a variety of their sun biscuits and pineapple tarts, lemon cake and walnut biscuits.
We loved the original and the cheese flavoured ones. Kids love the cheese flavoured. I personally loved the macadamia tarts.
Ruyi has also clinched the first position in competition thrice. Was told by my driver that the Chef actually was from a particular brand, came out to venture on his own, tweaked the recipe until he could achieve the best sun biscuit.
The crust was the flaky type and melts in your mouth and the paste was more like the wife’s biscuit texture but not so chewy. The honey flavoured one was nice but can be rather sweet if you consume more pieces. Hence we didn’t get that. We got original (8 pieces),yam (9 pieces), cheese (8 pieces) and boxes of mixtures of varieties for relatives. The biscuits were mainly packed in 8 for original, honey and cheese and few others. Yam was packed in 9, and some others in 6. Price wise, they were perhaps slightly pricier by a sgd$1 than the other brand. But the taste makes up for it.
As we had spent over twd4000, we had free delivery to our hotel in Taipei. Amount below that, you can still opt for delivery at a small fee. I cannot recall how much. I was told they have a branch at Taipei too, but we didn’t visit it.
If you had been searching for the best sun biscuit, or had been eating the other “AMS” or other brands, go, try this RUYI. Don’t say I never jio.

This Ruyi Sunny Cake shop was highly recommended by our hired personal taxi driver, Ah Lun in Taichung when we travelled to Taiwan. This shop will provide the free biscuits and chinese tea to the customers for tried the taste of biscuits before you wanna to buy it! You will serve welcome and properly by their friendly and polite staffs. This shop is selling many types of biscuits not only taiyang bing ( suncake) but also lemon, taro biscuit n etc. Must buy these souvenirs when you are travelling in Taichung, Taiwan.

The staff were friendly. We were allowed food-tasting for any pantries that we wanted. We tried 太阳饼,柠檬饼 (lemon cake) and 土凤梨酥 (indigenous pineapple cake). And we ended up bought all 3 types. They were superb yummy! I love the lemon cake.

When you arrived, immediately they will service you tea and get you a table. Then they will serve different items for you to try. The sun biscuit is not too sweet and I particularly like the rose flavored. In fact most of the items are pretty good just that the price is a bit ex. They are not so flexible in mixing flavors in case you want only certain mix.

our tour driver brought us here because she said it has the best sunny cake etc. When we arrived, we were asked to sit. We were offered free tastes plus tea or coffee. After tasting, we ordered lots of goods to bring home to the Philippines. It was really good and tasty. Thanks to our driver Fanny for bringing us there.
