Since I moved to Taichung with my husband Colin and our children we have been told again and again that Gaomei wetlands were a fantastic place to go. With a weekend spare and Colin's golf cancelled we decided to jump in the car and off...More

A scenic tourist spot but it does get crowded with both locals and tourists on any other day. Sitting by the boardwalk to look at those little creatures (mudskippers? I need to google what are these salamanders lookalike called) was fascinating for both adults and...More

We enjoyed our visit and saw tiny crabs, birds, and small fishes. We went at around 2pm and the sun was scorching hot. But getting your feet to walk on the wetland can give a comforting cooling effect. Marshals don’t let the taxi take you...More

Went there at a very windy evening to catch the sunset. Also huge wind mill there, great for photo taking too. There is also a place for people to have some water fun at the end of the broadwalk.

A place for nice pictures, it was very crowded when I went there. A change from the typical industrial scene of the city. I wish that tourists would not leave their rubbish behind. Overall, ok.

This was not a planned trip. Our friend in Taichung told us about this seaside scenery. It's 40 min. bus-ride from Taichung City. We arrived there just before sunset to catch fantastic view. It's beyond my belief that a small village would have setup such...More

you could try hiring a taxi for the half day and I suspect the cost could be below what you would pay for on the rental car
