Wonderful example of 18th century Taiwanese temple design. The expansive 10,000sq. meter complex includes impressive entrance gates, large halls featuring exquisitely carved stone dragons, beautifully crafted wood latticework and brightly painted beams and walls. There is an interesting exhibit (in English and Chinese) that details...More

I enjoyed my visit here, but it was less impressive than I had expected (after reading about it in guidebooks). I had made a special visit to Lukang to see the temple, and was a little disappointed. It's old, certainly, and I would certainly go...More

This is a stunning historical place. If you want to soak up the ambience and history of Lukang, this should definitely be on the list of temples you visit.

Although it's not as shiny as modern temples, with a very simple gate, it is extensive and the halls have many historical architecural and ornamental elements well worth the detour a bit away from the rest of Lukang's attractions. Be aware that there is no...More

This is the spot I didn't look forward but indeed surprise me a lot! Though the wood of the buildings look very very old. But they seem to be very strong! The woods smell so lovely and the pine trees grow so well. You can...More

Old Buddhist temple, quite large compared to other temples in town. Delicate woodcarving throughout. Difficult to believe the temple was flattened and was rebuilt as it all appears timeless.

Fantastic temple dating from 18th century, the wood carvings are impressive : dragons crawling on the columns and the ceilings are amazing. There's a lovely garden at the back of the temple with a fish & turtle pond.
