This gate happened to be 20 m from my guest house, Small Eye Backpacker, otherwise i probably would never have seen it. The gate was constructed in 1830 to keep invaders out, but hardly worth making a special trip to see it.

I couldn’t imagine this gate being the only means of defense from attacking people but there must not have been tremendous armies back then. I’m thinking more along the lines of closing the gate to keep out some thieves as we would close and lock...More
