Actually nothing much or impressive. Apart from the history of the manufacturing factory for sugar, I don't think it is a complusory place to visit.

I've been here a few times. It's mostly a place that you can wander through and check out local crafts, some of which are excellent. There are a few refreshment stands in here but there is a huge carp pool and some of those fish...More

Is one of the spot on our tour, is interesting, but ok. We had ice-dream (durian flavor) which was good, and the gold fish there eat the ice-cream that you cannot finish.

Great place to try multi flavor ice creams, at about TWD 50 for two scoops, its really a bargain. The Japanese houses are now renovated, and are just few feet away from the ice cream counter, so do check those out.

No longer a factory, but more a set of shops, the Guangfu Sugar Factory has a great ice cream shop. Many flavors; and a local favorite. Stop by for a big cone

Now lets be realistic here. You don't travel to Hualien to visit the sugar factory. Hualien is known for it's natural beauty, hiking trails, mountains and gorges. And that is really where you would spend most of your time. I happen to have visited the...More
