This is a lovely place for those who love jungle, and waterfalls. You could see the rainbow formed by the mist of the waterfall.

There really isn't much things to do in Taoyuan, so I would recommend coming here to take a walk away from the hustle and bustle of the city areas. There are hiking trails around here if you're feeling adventurous as well, the roads are not paved though, most of the people went for the general trail, and we did that as well, but we saw paths leading upwards to the top of the hill, so you can give it a try if you're into hiking.
There's the Sky Walk to take a look while standing on top of glasses, and you can look out underneath you. Be warned though that you can clearly feel the tremor of the whole bridge shaking when people are walking, and the bridge is quite short, it's quite instagram-mable but aside from that most of the people didn't stay for longer than 10 minutes as it's just shortly extended from the edge.
After you took a roundabout walk around the general trail, there is a store that is just at the entrance that sells iced mango shake drink, it's a must try as it's quite famous around there, so remember to stop for 1 after your walk around here!

Great experience walking on the bridge of Sky Walk in Xiaowulai, it can have a better feel on top of the waterfall. Short trekking on the mountain while walking back to entrance. Good location for a short visit.

The entire time i'm here it's scheduled to shower. So, my plans have changed and i'm pretty much based in Taipei.
I went there on a weekday as advised. Like anywhere else, this is to avoid the massive crowds. The trip from Taipei was abig long. Upon arrival you can walk up the Old Street and continue upward to the waterfall. Most vendors were not open, even by the time I was leaving, around 4 or 5pm.
The walk to the waterfall is fine. I did this in April. The cable car was open, but I did not realize this, b/c I didn't hear/see until when I was about to leave.
I continued upward to the suspension bridge, and onward through the forested area. it was very relaxing. The sound of the water flowing was very therapeutic. I continued to Neidong Natl park, but unfortunately that was closed.
I do suggest going early and enjoying a hot springs session afterwards. I wanted to do this, but was too tired and needed to get back into town.
I opted to walk on this visit, but many ppl just cab it up to the viewing area of the waterfall and continue onward on a cable car to get excellent shots, esp on a clear day.

Great location to visit if you want to experience a bit of nature.
The area has some nice waterfalls and also a commercial area where you can have a meal or buy some food for a picnic.
Like many places, it gets crowded here on weekends, so I'd suggest a visit during the week.

Good hiking trails, but you may not be able to get to the base of the falls. The other trails make up for that though. If you're going to Xiaowulai by public transportation, I'd recommend leaving a bit earlier in the morning - it gets crowded in the afternoon

This is an easily accessible scenic area in the north-west of Taiwan, about 1 hours drive from motorway 3. Despite our visit being on a holiday weekend, there weren't too many people there, so car parking was easy, and we could view the waterfalls at leisure.
A bit commercialised, but doesn't overly detract from the views.

If you are not a walker..prepare yourself to walk a lot. Bring your own drink, because the shop is not available in some site. The waterfall is so beautiful and make me don't want to go home. :D

Away from the overcrowding at Wulai, xiaowulai offers the same attractions (minus the train maybe) but probably more beautiful (my personal opinion). The glass bottomed viewing platform is a must-try (not as wonderful as the one at Grand Canyon but probably best in Taiwan), they built a new suspension bridge that can be accessed with the glass bridge ticket. Take the trek up from the toilet towards strongmen hill & see the waterfall from up close. The path is blocked now but there's still a way to climb around to reach the riverbank to get an even closer view of the waterfall & a great adventure!
