Seek and ye shall find! Prahran is a treasure hunter’s paradise of vintage stores, upscale boutiques and emporiums. Chapel Street is a one-stop shop with specialty stores selling just about everything. The famous Chapel Street Bazaar has so many curious and vintage knick-knacks that you will feel as if you're in a huge and busy museum. By contrast, at the northern end of Chapel Street, South Yarra and Windsor cater to high-end designer labels and exclusive boutiques. The community flocks to Prahran’s organic markets as a Saturday ritual, while art and film students leaf through vinyl LPs on Greville Street. The gay community also has a strong presence here. Prahran’s heritage buildings like the Reads Emporium and Prahan arcade offer a grand sense of scale and history. No matter your interest, come feel the pulse of one of Melbourne’s most loved precincts.

Named after Melbourne's co-founder, John Pascoe Fawkner, with 100 acres first reserved in 1862, Fawkner Park remains largely unchanged from its original design. The spacious park features two art-deco brick pavilions and several walking paths that meander through the sweeping fields. They are lined with leafy Moreton Bay figs, elms, poplars and oaks. The park has been popular for tennis since the 1880s and the tennis club has a quaint cafe.
Summer weekend cricket matches have a real ‘village green' atmosphere, with spectators making use of the free barbecues and clean picnic shelters.
There's plenty to occupy the children throughout Fawkner Park, with excellent playgrounds, ample shady trees and beautiful maintained gardens that surround clean picnic tables and barbecues.
Fawkner Park boasts sweeping and flat open spaces, lawns, avenues of huge trees, bicycle and foot paths, picnic and bench seats around the many playing fields.
The operation of drones is prohibited due to the nearby helicopter landing zone at the Alfred Hospital.
In the 1890s sections of the park were set aside for up to ten different sporting activities, ranging from golf to football, so people strolling in the park could enjoy all these activities in a localised area. Today the park is largely unchanged from the early design. The Park caters for a range of sporting activities which includes cricket, softball, Australian Rules football, soccer, tennis and rugby. Yoga, outdoor aerobics and Zumba have also become popular.
Fawkner Park remains a beautiful public 'green space' for all Melburnians and visitors to enjoy. Another iconic and enduring piece of the history that makes ‘marvellous Melbourne’ such a liveable world city.
Fawkner Park is bounded by Toorak Road, St Kilda Road and Commercial Road with the huge Alfred Hospital forming the southern boundary.

A great open space to stroll through on sunny spring day. You might even hear the jackass call of the Kookaburra.

It is a very large park that borders Toorak Road and it is one of those places you drive past and never go in.It is well maintained and a great expanse of green and a real asset although not spectcular other than its open spaces and green trees and sporting facilities and grounds. It was created in 1862 , all 41 Hectares of it and named after one of the founders of Melbourne John Fawkner for whom we thank very much for a great find and a great job.

This is a large park used by many to walk between Commercial and Toorak Roads.
There are a number of sporting grounds.
Unfortunately it lacks almost any native trees and instead sadly uses introduced European trees that are largely not favoured by native birds.
Getting rid of the European trees is probably not achievable as many would mistakenly protest but it would be great to have native shrubs and trees for bird habitat.

I have visited Fawkner Park many times. It's a great big park with sports ground facilities as well and beautiful walking paths (be careful not to get lost!) and gorgeous trees. It's located across the road from the Alfred hospital.
Bathroom facilities are not the best and hard to find if there's a sense of urgency but they do the job.
If you work nearby or are visiting the hospital it's a good place to come for a break.

As a local, this has always been my favourite park. It's in a really nice part of the city (South Yarra). What I love about it is there is plenty of parking along each side of the park. It's so big but the way it's designed is that you can see from one side to the other. This is helpful when you have dogs so you can see others coming from a distance. It's a well used park with many football/ cricket/ soccer fields, benches & dog friendly leash free areas. There is often a doggy socialisation here too and all of the dogs attending this park are generally well behaved and friendly breeds. I have never seen any aggressive or dangerous dog breeds here. It's a very well maintained park and the grass is never too long. The paths are lined with beautiful trees and it is really lovely to walk through.

Large off leash areas frequented by lots of "nice", social dogs. You won't find mutts and Staffys here. A very active dog group late every afternoon. Avoid Sat arvo though, as most of the off leash areas also double up as sports fields.

This is a nice square park that is great to run around, but it will trick you as how difficult the false flats are.

This is one of the better parks in Melbourne. It is well-cared for - and looking fab now that the drought is over. Great for family picnics. Just watch the dogs - or rather the owners of the dogs.
