For plantsmen and women, this garden is a treat in store. It surrounds an exquisite small French Manor house, with a suitably grand entrance avenue. The layout is interesting, the planting good, sometimes sublime. The garden is mature, so most of the specimen trees are really good, well established examples of their type. We were fortunate enough the see the cornus, of which there is a very good selection here, in flower at the end of May. Some other plants which made memorable features on this visit include Viburnum Lanarth, growing in a dark place beneath a tree canopy and coping surprisingly well with the dark conditions, flowering profusely; zanthedeschia towards the sea, mixed with iris and both magnificently sited, as well as more exotic planting redolent of the antipodes. Rhododrendrons, never my favourite plant, were nonetheless impressive and growing happily in the conditions here. This garden is a real treat, not to be missed by gardeners visiting the region.

This is a breathtaking garden around an indescribably beautiful house with rare plants mixed with the more mundane with an exquisite eye. There is a book available from the owner that is well worth acquiring. where in many gardens with plant collections the plants become the driver for the garden, here the planting is very effectively integrated to create a marvellous visual whole. Its location next to the sea is an added bonus.
