Just over 3 km from City Hall in Port Elizabeth is Humewood Beach. The location is perhaps a bit confusing as locals often include King's and Hobie beaches when they refer to Humewood. Anyway, according to the Mandela Bay authorities it is the stretch of beach east from the Humewood swimming pool roughly to the pier in front of the Beach hotel.

There is a pleasant promenade and there are restaurants mostly on the other side of the road. A green park area called Happy Valley is in the middle and can be accessed from the beach by an underpass. Good to know, there is a semi seapool area where it is safe to bathe or swim. At one end it is open to the ocean, while it is protected by a stone barrier against high waves and currents.

Nice beach but it and the area around it needs some tender love and care from the municipality. They are clearly not paying much attention

A favourite beach of PE. It is good if the ones is not blowing. The swimming is safe and the water is warm. Plenty of things to do nearby

The kids loved the beach. It is safe and sheltered. Lots of lovely sand.
Sadly the boardwalk was sprinkled with glass shards, making walking down to the stairs a bit of a challenge for shoeless feet :)

The beach is beautiful, but not one of the prettiest I've ever seen. Nice place to go for a walk, on Saturday there are people selling local crafts, the same price as in a store.
