Well, quirky
Sep 2019
Its free and of local interest I suppose.
Not a lot more to say about it, a quirky little stop to stretch your legs if on a tour.

Anyone's guess?

Hmmmm. We pondered and discussed this unique site, and decided which story we were going to believe. A first class riddle, and an interesting stop. Nope, I'm not telling you the theory we decided on. Please see pictures posted to make your own decision. This is a free stop, as most are here.

Unusual site to visit
Jan 2020
This tombstone dates from 1783, remembering Betty Stiven. There are theories around this woman and her death, but nothing has been proven.
An unusual piece of history. We visited here on a tour from our cruise ship visiting Scarborough. The tombstone is very close to Fort James.

its free and its a must seeas its quite unique

not any reason not to like not unless you think it may be your far lost relative. Great bit of unique history. Bet there were plenty of mothers that didn't know about it at the time. Overseas past history isn't the best aspect of the UK. Nice picture and a good way to spend 10 minutes on route

Interesting

There seems to be some differences of opinion regarding this tomb and it’s meaning. It’s sited close to the road to Fort James and is clearly maintained.

A well preserved heritage

The Mystery Tombstone is one of the folklore of the beautiful island of Tobago. One of Plymouth main attractions well preserved and documented. A stone throw from a lovely beach. A must see when in Tobago.

No big deal

Go to see the fort and its views of diving pelicans if you happen to be passing through, but the tombstone is really nothing special. We assume the mysterious lady was just a chattel to a plantation owner, who died in childbirth, perhaps without his knowledge

Wasn't all that thrilled by it - I guess its worth a stop if you are at the fort. Nice that you could walk here from Starfish Tobago if you want (we did it as part of an island tour with Blade).

A wonderful Trip into History
Apr 2019 • Couples
We enjoyed seeing the Tombstone during our Island Tour with Jonathan Daniel of Ted Sunshine Tours. It took us back to a much earlier time in some of the difficult origins of Tobago history.
