This is the most amazing old church, well worth a visit. The village of St Amand is also a small but interesting place to walk around.

There is more than one attraction beside the church whose interior fields clean, elegant lines. The little hemlet is a French version of the "Big Easy". The village does take life easy, ensconsed between two hills on the banks of the river Fion, which has the twin distinction of not drying out or bursting its banks.
Its popularity amongst anglers is displayed by the legion of lost souls looking for trout. The village has many cob and timber-framed houses, its farms arranged around an enclosed yard reached through a double gate.
We found the village to be full of charm and mystery, its lanes offering easy access to the river and its astonishingly Romanesque church, preserving vestiges of a tower and very flamboyant style lit by beautiful stained glass.

A small building in a very beautiful village, lovely glass work. use the guide leaflet to walk the village, but don't bother with the watermill, it is private and hidden!

Outside impressive - and inside a must see church; the nave was really elegant and when the organ was playing really good music could be heard. The Bells sound fresh and clear - a thoroughly impressive church for an otherwise dullish small town.

For a small village church the porch was similar to a cloister, inside is also very lovely. When we were there the church was full of flowers for a special service.

We were extremely surprised about how beautiful this church was for such a small village - we were told that, as he region had no chateaux, that's to be expected in this area!
Great free information in the church about the building, its history and the village.

Well worth looking in if you are in the area.
