The greek theatre and its surrounding archeological area is an hidden gems, few visitors but much worth the travel up the hill. The site is vast with impressive stone wall several meter high in some place, a showcase for the local craftsmanship. There is a small museum with interesting displays explains the historical importance of the site. The view is mindblowing. While in the area, one must stroll the city below, with baroque churches and building, narrows streets and plenty welcoming bars with succulent pastries.

The site is small in comparison with the Greek and Roman theatres in Siracusa and the archeology is preserved in quite a natural come rustic way, the site was clean with reasonable walking access to all areas (OK, some of the grass needed cutting) A huge positive was the fact that the site was all but deserted and we had the place to ourselves, were able to take our time and explore. No visitor information was offered or apparently available and there is next to no signage, there is an unmanned information centre but it’s Italian only (we read up our history on the internet beforehand) Cash only... no cards!

Fairly well preserved Greek theatre at the top end of town. Also remains of the ancient quarry and settlement with tombs and houses chiselled out of the rock. Have to say, they don't make the best of what could be a great attraction, much is overgrown and there's not much in the way of guidance or explanation, but absolutely well worth the walk up from town.

During summer 2018 site is covered by wooden boards, actually the place is used for some theater or music production. It makes no sense to go there. People from Siracusa are simply crazy to do this.

The Akrai Theater is amazing. It is immersed in silence and evokes ancient atmospheres. It is not great if compared to the splendid Greek Theater of nearby Syracuse but it deserves to be visited
