Typical natural road with a very beautiful and lush nature. If you are driving your own vehicle, be careful when passing through the numerous bridges, many of the wood in bad state of conservation.

This bumpy and at times dusty road offers an ever changing opportunity to observe wildlife and birds. We stopped roadside and even saw an anaconda! Occasionally the local cowboys will drive their cattle by and that's exciting, too!

Most of the Transpantaneria Highway is a very rough dirt road. Make sure you have a good driver and a sturdy vehicle because there are no gas stations or roadside services. When I went, there was a passable two track and the rest of the...More

For the adventurist, this is a great road. Its rough, bumpy, at times muddy or underwater. A 4x4 is a must. But it goes through some of the most rugged, beautiful land filled with wildlife.

Only in Pantanal do you stop so a family of caimans can cross the road. We were impressed by the incredible number of animals we saw on the way to the lodge.

Just driving the highway, with regular stops, will produce an extraordinary array of wildlife. In combination with stays at at least a couple of the high quality lodges along the way (eg Piuval, Alegre, Araras, Santa Teresa) this is a world-class wildlife experience. The road...More

Dusty road, but you can see a lot of birds, aligators. In the night was possible to spot a jaguatirica. I imagine that, in certain hours, with a bit of lucky, you can even see a jaguar.

I would contact the accommodation you are staying at and ask them. When I was there last year, the highway had heaps of large potholes and washed out bridge areas ( that were being repaired). The highway has waterways either... More
