standing or sitting and just looking from left to right or right to left, you'll see green all over. Not only green but beautiful and serene green. It offers you a very relaxing view and truly a sight to behold.

Since this is always visited by Basco visitors due to the Lighthouse, coming over here also means you can get a very good panoramic view of the town below to the sea on this side, and have a sunset to see too if you wait long enough.
If you stay in the town below, and do not mind walking up here via a road from the plaza near to the municipal hall (about 10-15 minutes brisk hike up) then try it, otherwise, hail a tricyle :-)

This famous site gets crowded in the afternoon towards sunset when the light is just right for photos. You can have the option to climb the lighthouse to get the best view of the bay or rent their local costumes for authentic photo ops. They set up sunset dinner for guests who may want to stay but we were warned of nocturnal insects.

We went to the Naidi Hills twice; the first on our arrival in Batanes, but it was raining and windy, and the second on our third day when the sun was out and the skies were clear. Only one word to describe these rolling hills: STUNNING! While Batanes is known for its rugged coastline, beaches, and ‘Marlboro Country’, viewing the sunset from the Naidi Hills was quite spectacular. Beware of cattle manure wherever you walk, as there are grazing cattle roaming the hills ;) The scenery is similar to the Scottish Isles and the hills of Northern Ireland.
The Basco Lighthouse is located atop one of these hills, along with a row of bunkers. One of the bunkers, painted in Santorini colors with a white façade and bright blue windows and doors, was converted into a restaurant called the Bunker Café, which is open for dinner and serves Filipino and Ivatan specialties. The set meal (P300 per person) consists of a meat dish, fish dish, vegetables, rice, and iced tea. You may also request that a private table and chairs be set up beside the lighthouse. It was wonderful being able to watch the sunset from our table and enjoy our feast outdoors (watch out for insects, though). If it gets too cold (it was breezy in the hills in late April), you can dine inside the restaurant.

This area is a combination of Hawaii and Scotland at their best...breathtaking and exhilarating! The photo ops here and EVERYWHERE on this tour were plentiful, my photographic head was spinning! I was almost bothered when my travelling companions...family wanted to be in the pictures! LOL, oh well, there was plenty of time for the nature scenes!

The Naidi hills is the perfect backdrop to the Basco lighthouse. All you see is rolling hills, greeneries, at the same time, smell the tonic air of the sea.

Naidi Hill is very picturesque and is the location of first lighthouse of Batanes.
Naidi offers a panoramic view of Baluarte Bay, Basco town, Mount Iraya and the rolling hills of Batan Island. We obtained great 360o views by walking up the spiral stairs of the Basco Lighthouse.
This is also one of the best spots to view the sunset.
Historically it housed the country’s tallest wireless communications facility that connected Batanes with the government in Manila during WWII until its collapse from a Japanese forces bomb attack.
A must visit in Batanes.

it takes 15 minutes of walking to reach the lighthouse. yes, it sounds tiring but worth it. you'd see diura fishing village from here and the china sea. you'd see cows walking around and it is very quiet. if you want a place to have pucnic, then this is the best place for you.

is there entrance fee here in Naidi Hills?
Written July 22, 2015
No entrance fee is needed. Going up the lighthouse will only require name registration for every tourist visiting the place.
