Stunning beach just down the road from Mullins. No facilities but perfect for chilling and swimming. Need to park a little away and then walk , entrance quite easy to find. You might get a bit wet accessing the beach :) depending on time of day . Only negative was an extremely rude “lady” who seemed to believe she owned the beach as she was renting a property backing onto it. Barbadians are lovely , but unsurprisingly beach Karen was British. Must still think it’s a colony or something :) anyway no one could spoil a few hours here.

We've just had the holiday of a lifetime staying at an excellent Air B&B five minutes walk from Gibbs Beach . We watched the sunrise and the sunset, truly a beautiful completely natural un spoilt beach. White sands, crystal clear sea and great snorkeling straight off the beach and shade for those of us with Celtic heritage!

Gibbs is a nice alternative to Mullins Beach, just a short distance to the south. It has none of the amenities of Mullins, but is a very picturesque half moon bay with shade in parts from the pines, and no crowds. It is accessed by a path from the road next to a villa named Southwind marked by a white stone with the name painted on it. There is no parking available on the coast road, but a spot can usually be found on the next street leading inland just south of the access path.

In the posh north-west coast of Barbados they don’t want you to easily find the best beaches (which are all public by law), in order to favour the exclusive resorts and expensive villas. But once you manage to find the small entrance to Gibbs beach, you are rewarded by a landscape of beauty and peace.
We went twice in the morning and we found very few people scattered along the white beach in front of amazing, wonderful turquoise waters.
In the morning you can enjoy natural shadow beneath some trees.
One afternoon we found some organized tours’ boats bringing lousy and loud tourists, whose idea of fun is listening to loud cheap music, sending out coyote shouts and drinking beer in the sea; but even their presence could not completely spoil the idyllic scenario.
This is one of my favorite beaches in the Caribbean.

This has to be up there at the top - of the best beaches in Barbados now!!! Just round the corner from Mullins heading south - There are never a lot of people on this beach - but then there isnt a lot of properties on this stretch - a bit more exclusive in beach terms!! So for that reason - this is now my favourite beach!

Gibbes beach is an absolute GEM! Located north of Hole town and the rather busy tourist scene, this beach offers everything you think of when dreaming about the Caribbean. Beautiful white sands, blue water with bathtub like temperatures. Parking your car right at the beach is available. Several vendors offer lounge chairs, umbrellas and refreshments. We typically use the excellent service provided by Simone and her daughter Fay. Very reasonably priced chairs and umbrellas. Simone will show you her small menu, take your order and deliver the food directly to your chair. Her rum punch is elegantly served in proper, glass, glasses. A small table is also placed next to your chairs.
This beach is long enough for a pleasant stroll. From time to time there will be catamaran charters that come in to the bay on half day cruises from Bridgetown. They are mainly interested in snorkelling and a lunch on board. We have never found these visitors to be bothersome. The jet ski operators try to make a living but leave you alone when asked.
I highly recommend this lovely stretch of Barbados bliss.

A little hard to find the beach access but well worth the hunt. Not many people on this amazingly beautiful stretch of beach. Great for swimming and floating or just enjoying the beach.

Went down around 8h in the morning for a 'dip'

Probably quite understandable, but no-one else in the water plus only one or two people strolling on this nice secluded beach. For those going by car, need to park on one of the roads away from the beach and take the public path down (think there may only be one public-access?).

Needless to say yet another fantastic beach. Quite modest in size (but still maybe 400-500 metres in length). Almost had a gentrified air about it. It was wonderful floating out on the water as the sun broke thru over the trees onto our faces.

We much preferred Gibbes beach to Mullins, it is quieter and away from the street since there are beach front properties lining the back of the beach. You can walk from Mullins beach side but if the tide is high it can get a tiny bit treacherous without footwear.
Bring something to eat if you plan to stay all day and certainly water since there are no services on the beach.
Jet skis still patrol the coastline in search of clients but overall it is very quiet.

We were lucky enough to have a house for two weeks on this beach. It's lovely and quiet and our early morning swims allowed us to see turtles and shoals of jacks leaping out of the water. It is quite steep going down into the water but once in it's fine. A word of warning, the beach is overhung by manchineel trees, which bear poisonous fruits that look like small green apples. Don't handle the fruits and don't shelter under the trees in the rain as they drip acid. We saw some great sunsets from this beach, so it's worth an evening visit. The beach gets busier at weekends when party boats moor up, so if you want a quiet time its best to come in the week.
