Just absolutely brilliant. Planned a private day with my family and to give my 8 year old son his first diving experience. Couldn't be happier with the warmth and professionalism of the crew.

We did 2 dives each at Mango Bay and Twins. Lots of beautiful coral formations to see and high visibility in March.

Extra touches: Eric even managed to source halal food for us (tasty Thai). Zoe and Fischer made our day extra special with the coaching and attention they paid to us and the kids. Had good non drowsy sea sickness pills that my wife needed on the speedboat. They even had a prescription mask for me that made my dives extra special!!

Excellent guides, good equipment

My wife, daughter and I are certified and did two dives with Fisher. Our daughter's three older kids did an introductory pair of dives with Zoe. She was patient and fun with them, helping the younger two a lot to have a good time. Fisher was very good also, taking videos and pictures and guiding us patiently. The boat that brought us was almost new and very up-to-date, as opposed to most of the other dive boats we saw around Koh Tao. Maybe a little more expensive, but c'mon, if you're going all the way to Thailand...

A great day with the Discovery team!

Super day with the Discovery divers team!

Dion took care of everything with great professionalism. He made sure we understood the site. He was friendly and caring. So, the dives were a great experience, and Dion was making sure we could see all there was to see. I prefer the first dive at Chumphon pinnacle; it was less crowded and so beautiful.

The food was delicious, and the whole team was very nice. Plus, the weather was just awesome!

Well run establishment! Great job!
I’m newer to diving, only about 20 dives. My husband won’t dive with me, so I have to go alone on the dive tours. I was super excited to dive, but a little nervous going on my own. This company is very professional and made me feel safe and taken care of. I even had to reschedule after getting food poisoning from a local beach bar. The communication was great, and they help me reschedule my dive with no issues. From the time they picked me up from the hotel to drop off at the end of the day, my experience was wonderful.
WhenI arrived at the dive shop I was immediately greeted by Gita my guide for the day. She was very friendly and clearly loved her job! She helped me get my gear, went over liability, forms and safety information as well as explaining some of the fish we would see for the day. The ride out was awesome and we were very lucky to have good visibility. I saw hundreds if not thousands of barracuda. We saw grouper, and enemies, really cool, clams, and lots more. Sadly, we didn’t see a whale shark on my tour, but it didn’t damper my spirits because overall, the dive was amazing! Lunch on the boat was very good, and they offered plenty of sodas and waters, I was definitely glad I picked this tour and had a great time diving in Thailand!

Sail Rock Overhyped

I’m an experienced diver with over 50 dives in Mexico, Maui, Kauai, and the Bahamas. Sail Rock is pretty average. I read it was “world class”. That is nothing but hype. The rock itself is pretty small and on the day we went, there were no less than 5 other full dive boats at the site, so it was crowded. The hour long boat ride to the rock was very bumpy and half of the people on our boat got sea sick. The water was rough with 3-5 foot swells. When I asked if this was normal, our DM said it was pretty normal and that Sail Rock was not her favorite dive site. So much for world class. With regard to Discovery Divers specifically they were pretty disorganized. Everything seemed chaotic. I typically bring my own regulator, but didn’t want to lug it around Thailand, so I used theirs. It was missing the teeth knobs on the mouthpiece. Shame on me for not noticing; but shame on them for giving it to me. We were planning to dive 2 days, but decided not to use Discovery again. Easily one of the ten least enjoyable dives I have ever done.

HI Garrett, Thank you for your review. We always appreciate feedback. We are sorry that you did not feel Sail Rock was as good as people say it is, but dive sites are subjective what some people's favorites may not be the favorite for all people. I can say that generally most of our divers love Sail Rock and return to dive it multiple times. You were there on one of the busiest days of the year and during monsoon season. I know myself that I have dove sites in other countries that everyone raves about but I was just there on not so good of a day so I didn't enjoy it as much as other people. As you know being an experienced diver that we cannot control conditions on any given day. We are sorry that you felt it was chaotic. On that morning we had one of our staff woke up with a sore throat and cold and we try to have strict procedures during this period and in the interest of safety told them to stay home until they had a negative test (test was negative in the end), this caused us to have to move the groups around in the morning to accommodate for being short a staff but fortunately since we dive in small groups we were able to accommodate all the divers without exceeding our 4:1 group limits. Sorry if that seemed chaotic to you. As for the mouthpiece, you are correct that it was missing some of the teeth marks (sometimes divers bite it off) and our staff should have caught that and if not it should have been caught on your buddy check. We take responsibility for this and your DM changed it out for you as we keep spare equipment on our boat. We hope that you enjoyed the rest of your vacation and if you are in the area you should really give Sail Rock another chance. It really is a great dive site.

Wow what a great day out this was.

Collection was bang on time.

We were doing the introductory day to diving.

When we arrived we were met by our dive instructor Mann. Wow what to say about Mann. His English was impeccable and he was the best person for us on the day.

He was patient, explained everything in clear detail and had a very calming and relaxed approach, not relaxed in that you could do anything you wanted but in terms of how he spoken and explained things.

We went through the paper work, wavers lol we had to sign and then once this was done Mann took us to get our equipment sorted. Because we went in October it was quite so we had Mann all to our selves.

All the equipment was well maintained and all fitted correctly. Mann made sure everything was as it should be.

All the kit was taken to the boat for you and we had an hour boat ride to the first dive site where we would learn the basics. The boat ride gave us a chance to get to know our fellow divers all of which seemed to be experienced.

When we got to the first site Mann talked us through the basics and we learned what to do and what not to do. It also gave us the confidence we needed. Again Mann made it clear that if at any time we were not comfortable we didn't have to dive deep but could stay on the surface or what ever we were happy doing. He made it clear it was our experience.

My partner was struggling with the concept of putting your head under water and breathing, which if you have not dived before is very disconcerting and counter intuitive.

Once we had finished our initial training that lasted about an hour or so, we got back on the boat and went to the next dive site 10 minutes away. But first we had lunch which I really enjoyed and nice green Thai curry with rice and something else that I can't remember but the food was really good.

The crew of the boat were great and again everything was done with no worries about your kit or anything. Very slick and well organised.

When we got to the next site we were helped by man to put on our kit making sure everything was OK, it is quite cumbersome to walk on the boat with but once in the water its all good.

We stood on the side on the boat and stepped off into the water, again a bit counter intuitive as you are wear all the dive gear.

As I have done this a few times before I was comfortable in being under the water and staying calm while you breath. Long in take slow out breath and just enjoy the surroundings. Because my partner was struggling Mann again emphasised if she was not comfortable she could just stay on the surface, but after a while she because more comfortable but was helped along by Man who held onto her from above and kind of steered her along. This meant my partner could enjoy the dive but without actually doing anything. It looked really funny as she seemed to be being carried along dangling from Mann's arm holding on the her air tank.

We say some great fish and coral but we also saw a small ray just under an overhanging bit of coral.

Once the dive was over we got back onto the boat and headed back.

I can't say enough about how good Mann was with us and how he looked after my partner to make her feel comfortable under the water. Because of his approach my partner got to enjoy the dive instead of giving up because she didn't feel good and because my partner has a lot of courage and determination also.

I would recommend this course to anyone who has never dived of has but like me has not taken the qualification. Awesome day out. Make sure you ask for Mann, because he is the man.

Oh, make sure you take with you a towel and some dry clothing although by the time you get back you are dry. We took a bag with but forgot towels buy this wasn't any issue as you dried really quickly. The is access to fresh water to rinse off on the boat after being in the sea.

Professional, friendly... 100% recommend!

Just completed 2 dives with Discovery a few days ago.

The team are very professional... from the hotel pick-up, briefing at the dive centre and all the way to the boat ride everything was easy. Dion, our dive guide for the trip, was fantastic! These guys really do pay attention to the detail.

The incredibly friendly team made for a great day of diving despite some weather challenges, which they adapted to quickly to make sure the day was a great experience for everyone diving.

A great thanks to all at Discovery! I would 100% recommend, and will definitely dive with them next time I'm in Koh Samui!

Great people to dive with!
Everything about our dive trip to Koh Tao was wonderful. We were a group of seven including two certified teenager divers. All the formalities before getting on the boat we’re done efficiently without any conclusion. The instructors gave clear and simple instructions. We got to do one shore dive at mango bay ( good for getting familiar with the gear ) and a boat dive at another location a few minutes away.

Without exception, we were watched carefully at all times by our instructors who knew exactly how much to intervene so that our dives were enjoyable. So a fun dive also doubled up as a diving lesson. Samira guided my niece and myself through our dives. Under her watch, our confidence grew manifold. Margot patiently eased the first timers in our group underwater until their apprehensions were washed away. Pierre expertly took the certified kids to a more challenging site where they got to see more marine life.The waters around Samui are warm and visibility is excellent. It’s definitely worth taking out a day or two to explore the undersea here.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending the good people at Discovery should you wish to go diving in the Samui area. Thank You Samira !! Thank you Margot !! Thank You Pierre!!

If you want to dive in Koh Samui- use Discovery Divers

We are a family of 5 who have spent the past 2-3 days doing a variety of diving activities with Discover Divers. My youngest did her junior Open Water PADI; myself and my 2 other children already have our PADIs and did a couple of dives and my wife wanted to do a refresher course as she hasn’t dived in a while.

We all felt that discovery divers was absolutely brilliant. Zoe, Tony and Pierre were amazing instructors - my youngest loved learning to do her PADI with Zoe and Pierre really helped my wife relax for her first dive in years! Tony was the perfect instructor for me and my other children on our dives. He clearly explained everything before each dive.

We felt very well looked after. The crew driving the boat were very experienced and made us feel very safe (despite the choppy waters we had on our dives!).

The company really is fantastically run by Eric and Ritchie- who answered my many questions before the trip! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them (or use them again if we venture back to Samui).
