Free of charge. Clean water. Free toilets and douches. It's better to use bath shoes because of stones.

Theres 3 sandy beaches on Madeira, where golden sand as been brought in from Morroco. My wife and I spent the whole day (Thursday) at Calhata beach. Weekends can get very busy on the sandy beach.So go for any other day(s) for space and enjoyment....More

Great and chilly! The hotel nearby is superb! Although it was early May, the sea was calm and inviting. Undoubtedly, the best (and only!) sandy beach on Madeira island.

Absolutely lovely beach even in December, the surrounding area is really stunning, clean and safe. It was so peaceful with a few families the bathing area is safe.

We swam in the sea. It was chilly but once you're in it's ok. It was actually warmer than the hotel pool
