After looking for some sunshine in a beer garden, we randomly stumbled across the anchor inn. We were greeted by the friendliest landlord and landlady, who took great delight in telling us of their jam session, and cobbler dancing later on that evening. The good...More

From the moment we walked into the pub We felt very uncomfortable. There were customers at the bar swearing and obviously been there a while as well under the influence. Not nice to see and hear when with children. Took at least 10 minutes for...More

We arrived in town on Good Friday and walked down to the anchor, we hadn't booked a table but they generously found us some space, where we had some amazing fresh fish for dinner. A charming old town pub full of locals.

I was visiting this pub with friends, one of whom was unable to drive. I was keen to say good things about this pub. However, the chicken was pallid and dry...microwaved perhaps? The bacon tasted salty and old. I won't visit again....

Good pub food, very busy but very friendly staff, have had Sunday lunch which was very nice, nice fresh vegetables and a good choice, also had an evening meal but didn't think there was a lot of difference from the lunch menu, but still nice.
