The story of how the Kimonas of fabric with incredible colors, patterns, and beauty on display here is fascinating and inspiring. It is "eye candy," and the grounds are very nice too. The Art Museum is located so that it can be a stop included...More

A kimono museum didn't sound that appealing, and I would probably never have visited if it hadn't been for a friend's persistent raving about the Itchiku Kubota over many years. For that I am grateful because this is one of the finest museums I have...More

We went to this little museum with no expectations, having never heard of Itchiku Kubota. We were there as a family of 5 - my wife and I with our 3 kids, 17, 15 and 12. Our 15 yr old son was the only one...More

Loved the integration of modern art into everything here along with the Japanese garden. The key to this place is to watch the short film about Itchiku Kubota, I asked to see the English version and it was happily put on when the area was...More

The whole place oozed of well-thought design. The kimonos were fantastic. The technique mastered then expressed over a multitude of themes was breathtaking. A good background video showed Kunitz discussing his art and some of the major pieces in the Smithsonian but the collection physicality...More

This must be the best museum to visit in Kawaguchiko. Unbelievable kimonos and an interesting film about making them, unfortunately only in Japanese. Wear clean socks as you'll have to take off your shoes.

The building is impressive and unique, the museum contains fabric creations, kimono painted with methods that are the work of the artist kubota, just amazing how much work has been invested in every detail.

Itchiku Kubota was an amazing man who earnestly pursued his dream and was incredibly talented at it. Not only are the kimono displays stunning, there was a lot of work put into the garden and entrance that made it very immersive, and a movie being...More
