LOVELY GARDENS BUT THE CATERING LET DOWN THE EXPERIENCE
Sep 2021
This was my first visit to Rosemoor and I really enjoyed it. As a member, it was free for me and my friend came in as my guest. I was impressed with the gardens, even though parts had gone beyond their best this late in the season. There were plenty of places to sit and admire the views and various areas of interest including the woodland, the formal rose gardens, the parkland and the vegetable gardens.

Where the gardens failed miserably was in the catering. This seems to be a common theme amongst the RHS gardens - Bridgewater was shocking in this respect and Wisley's food offerings are overpriced and the service is disorganised. Please RHS, take a leaf out of Harlow Carr where the superb Bettys have taken over the running of the catering facilities very successfully. We queued for about 20 minutes for our coffees on arrival but refused to queue again for lunch so went into Appledore instead for something far more tempting from a local deli.

Interesting site
Sep 2021
Quite nice to see. Quite interesting. Not the best RHS garden we have visited. The formal planting wasn't to our taste entirely. As a member we didn't have to pay, and would have been disappointed if we had had to.

Beautiful gardens but disappointing services
Sep 2021 • Couples
These are beautiful, well maintained gardens which are well worth a visit. You can spend several hours here. However.........on the day of our visit we were disappointed in the following:
Catering services: this was very badly managed. Restaurant was only open for couple hours for lunch and the same for afternoon tea and these had to be pre-booked. The only alternative was to queue for ages at a takeaway outlet to be served extortionately priced bags of food.....a sandwich or pasty with some crisps and a drink will set you back £12.50 per person! A pasty on its own was £5.50. Prices we felt were entirely unjustified. Needless to say we did not queue up to spend £25 on a paper bag lunch. Being RHS members we left and went into nearby town to buy own food and returned to the gardens to picnic. Apart from the one catering outlet near the entrance (which caused a big build up of people congregating together in one small space) there was only one other further in to the gardens. Drink prices were not too bad. The tea room was also closed. So catering wise let them down very badly.
Toilets: the only ones available on the day were outside the main entrance which was not helpful at all! Another let down.
We did enjoy the day but would recommend contacting them prior to your visit to see what facilities are available.

Lovely gardens, shame about the service
Sep 2021
The RHS have made a good attempt at reviving the gardens after covid, they are lovely. Unfortunately, on the hot day when I visited, many older visitors were forced to wait in excess of 20 minutes at one of the the two outlets for refreshment. Both had one server and none of the seated cafes were open. This meant that once consumers had obtained their drink, they all sat on walls or the grass (if they could get down) in close proximity to one another, thus negating any anti covid spreading ploy the RHS thought they were employing. This was outrageous to the many elderly visitors. On a more mercenary note (for the RHS) only one member of staff was taking money/cards at the shop, leading to queues which was also not good for covid. Get your act together Rosemoor - none of the other public places are this inept. Treat your patrons with thought and respect,

Sunny Gardens- Gloomy Faces
Sep 2021
Gardens were amazing but the catering fell short of the mark. The staff also seemed less than sunny compared to the some of the flowers with a demonstrable lack of humour and enthusiasm.

Let down by lack of facilities
Sep 2021
As usual the gardens were beautiful, but we felt let down by the facilities or lack of. The café was closed and was only offering a very limited take-out service. There was a "pop up" cabin on a field but the queue was horrendous and very limited seating.
The main toilets were closed... why?
The RHS needs to accept that we are out of lockdown and, although caution is still needed, they need to cater for their visitors.

So lovely

Despite the grey and wet weather, we enjoyed a fabulous first visit to RHS Rosemoor. Warm welcome, stunning gardens, friendly staff, cafe, restroom, shop and art exhibition. We loved it!

Beautiful gardens, but where are the cafes and toilets?
Sep 2021 • Couples
The gardens are stunning, well worth the visit. However, our trip was slightly marred by the lack of facilities. All the tea rooms/cafes were closed, replaced by pop-up take-away shacks. This caused huge queues to build up and a lack of seating. Not helped as it was also a rainy day so everyone was scrabbling for the tiny amount of indoor seating. The other problem was that the toilets attached the tearooms were also closed, making a long trek to the one set of toilets left open. Surely now is the time to open up all hospitality settings, especially with the popularity of staycations.

Having recently visited these gardens, we had a wonderful afternoon. The staff were very helpful and the gardens were very colourful. Next time we will go for the whole day so much to see and do.

Worth a visit
Aug 2021
Beautiful gardens and well worth a visit - unfortunately we accidently picked a day when there was a flower show on and the shops and cafe was heaving.
