Make sure that you apply anti mosquito spray before going up. It's walking distance from the Dapitan Plaza. It's tiring to go up, but it's worth it.

It was rather difficult to find the entrance at first. It was a little gate that was unassuming and simple but once you get to the top you get a commanding view of Dapitan City as well as the nearby mountains and the Sulu Sea. It had a donation fee of just 5 pesos and was a doable walk away from the city center. During my visit last August 3, 2016, I saw about a dozen kids, aged 6 to 9 years old, by the stairs who had just come down from the top. I playfully remarked if they would accompany back up again and without hesitation they went merrily up with me, much to my delight. At the top they started pointing out the landmarks of the city. I asked them about life in their fair city and it's always interesting what you can get from a child's perspective about life in general. Overall, it was a simple but enjoyable experience.

its a hill in the city center, which has always been blamed for the poor mobile phone signal on one side, you climb up sees the entire city and that's it, nothing very spectacular!

Climbing the steps is a challenge for people like me who don't exercise.
One can view different parts of the city on different parts of the hill. I prefer the side facing the mountains & the "punongs".

Visitors ought to be more responsible with their trash. Soooo many garbage strewn here & there. The gov't. ought to install trash bins.

Obviously, Ilihan Hill had lost its glory, there's no structure left there to remind us how important the hill had served its purpose during the Spanish time except for few stones and concrete slabs which were clear reminders of massive destruction either by direct effect of wars or human failure to preserve the site.
There is a concrete steps leading to the top of the hill and nothing else. Trees and vegetation make up most of the hill where you can see overlooking the sea and the city of Dapitan. It also serves as peaceful respite and /or romantic hideaway for some couples going up there :)
