Spending the afternoon at Mangel Halto Beach was ideal. Given how shallow the water is, it made it very comfortable for me to practice snorkeling! I imagine that if you're not a swimmer, this would be a great spot for you, too! There are many spots along the roadside for one to park their cars and set out their beach chairs. Those who chose that option had to climb down a ladder, or steps to get to the water. As rickety as it was, we enjoyed putting our beach chairs on the deck and having easy access to the water. There weren't many people at Mangel Halto Beach; it was nice to have peace and quiet. If you'd like a quiet and shallow beach experience, this one is for you!

This is a gem of a spot. Non tourist. Safe. I traveled solo for a month. The beach is mangrove trees. Snorkel, swim, kayak onsite. Experience the local vibe of the island. I highly recommend staying in this area. With a rental car or my choice was a taxi you can access every part of the island. Explore!

We went to a few places to snorkel but this is the best place by far in Aruba! We saw an octopus eating out of a conch shell. There are tons of beautiful fish everywhere in crystal clear water. I read some reviews about this beach saying you have to be an expert swimmer. Not sure what they are talking about! The water is calm and easy to swim in. You can find fish the moment you step in.

This was my second visit to Aruba. We didn’t visit MH last time on account of the warnings about unfavourable swimming conditions. This time we visited the donkey sanctuary so thought we’d take a look as it was nearby and I am so glad we did! I’ve heard the snorkelling there is ‘not for beginners’ and currents can be strong etc but actually we didn’t even go out to the main reef as there was plenty to see in the shallows and the beach was very sheltered due to the mangroves. So, actually it is possible to go and enjoy snorkelling there without going far. I think a lot of pictures show the steps going down into the water but there is also plenty of shallow beach access. There are two areas with palapas and then a mangrove area in the middle with shelter under the trees, all along a stretch of nice sandy beach. There’s a very shallow bay on the left side where the water is calm and sheltered. Here there are lots of rocks to explore and find hermit crabs etc. It’s mostly rocky along the shore here so beach shoes are recommended but there is a small sandy area for easy entry. We saw 3 eels and lots of crabs in the mangroves when exploring the shallows. Around the corner is the main sandy stretch for entry to the water. I snorkelled here with my 10 year old and we had a great time whilst not even out of her depth. The rocky areas provided plenty to see. Then, along to the right a bit more is the area where the sea can be accessed by steps from the carpark so there are a few different options here. I’ve heard this place is popular with locals and we ended up there on Saturday at Midday but there was still parking and shady spots. It wasn’t very busy. The visibility here was much better than anywhere else we went on this visit to Aruba so I’m really glad we went and will definitely visit again next time.

Easy to find parking! Nice area, people were very friendly, the water was beautiful and warm, we really enjoyed this area. We snorkeled late in the afternoon so we didn’t see a lot of fish, but it was still a great experience. The water remains very shallow for several yards into the ocean and it’s so clear, you can see everything. The bottom was rocky in spots, so I’d recommend water shoes, but otherwise, pay this place a visit, it’s worth it.
