The actual Patar "white " beach is a small stand of mocha colored loose sand coral that is situated in the far end of Patar Barangay. It's a common public beach where you can rent huts, buy souvenirs, stay overnight in a flimsy room for php1,500.
They will charge you php 80 for parking on top of the php40.00 environmental fee per person.
The rest of the Patar and Ilog na Malinao stretch of resorts are situated in an area where the beaches are full of sharp rocks and not really conducive for swimming.
This made me realize the reason why the resorts have swimming pools, because you can't swim in the ocean

Any suggestion where to stay in Patar. Looking for low prices like a hut where me, my wife and 4 kids can stay this new year!

This is supposed to be a public beach but yet every step u make is not free..we've been to different public beaches..we look for a vacant place and set up our tent..we feel more secure with our tent..coz we can just zipped it and go swim..but here in Patar beach, u can set up your tent but later locals there will approach u and ask for money..they say thats for the one who cleans the beach..but oh my goodness...trash are all over the place. How can u believe them..and to think that is a public beach..i would pay if a person on uniform from tourism or from barangay would approach us..but no..just people who owns the shower room approach us.i know its them because i waited for the long line to use their pay cr..
And the beach is not childrens friendly..because of the big waves that even adults will roll..not good for kids...their boats for rent are even blocking the beach..you have to pass by their boat before going to the beach..
This is the worst of all the worst beach weve been..after arguments with the the cr owner we decided to leave the place..and the rest is history..worst of all the worst..
...the good thing that happen is after leaving patar beach we look for a place where we could stay for a liitle time..because we plan to leave at around 9 pm to avoid the rush hour trafick on manila..and along the highway of Bolinao u can see the calm beach..so we turn left towards a picnic table but no one is around except fo the old lady sitting by the door..i went out..and approach lola if we could stay their for a little while bec.we found the beach so calm and the water is crsytal clear we even see a baby starfish...and yes we can and yes we did..for about 3 hrs as the sun is setting we enjoy the calm beach of Bolinao..and upon having conversation with granny we found out that her place was hit by 2 typhoon already..and she has only 1 child and her husband already passed away..so no one is helping her with her resort..that place is used to be a very nice resort.but bec of the typoon it doesnt look that good anymore.plus no one is helping her..only during vacation her only apo is their to help her..a very shy girl...she is asking ask to recommend her place to our friend who would like to visit Bolinao..for a budget traveller this is the best place to go..beach front very cheap accomodation P3k per room good for 5pax additional 100 for additional pax..
And the beach is safe for kids..
Contact her through 09064681630..
All the pics are on my dslr..i will just add later..

Likes:
- Near fine sand but also with interesting rocky areas to explore
- Clean cottages for rent
- Bring your own food or ask locals to cook for you (negotiate prices)
- Friendly locals
- Shopping for souvenirs

Dislikes:
- Confusing directions to the beach; ask locals
- Parking fee of P50 (no guard that I could see)
- Bathroom or toilet is not yet modernized

If you are on a budget and wants to enjoy and experience a white sand beach, I suggest Patar Beach. It is 4-5hrs away from Metro Manila and it is cheap. entrance fee is like Php 30-50 only for the public beach. You can also rent a cottage which cost 200-1000 depends on how many it can accommodate and if it has facilities like room & aircon. There are cottages that has room and aircon which you can rent for overnight stay. There are also stores which you can buy snack, drinks and souvenirs.

The best time to go here is summer, since you can see the clearness of the water.

Went there to take a German friend to have a Filipino style camping where everything is improvised. :) Water is great and amazing sunset. We set up tent far from the cottages, gathered dried woods for fire and grilling fish for dinner. At night would have been great for stargazing but it was a cloudy night. Bad bonfire til 11pm and went to sleep at 1am. Morning swim was even better, beautiful view and amazing water. Great camping experience.

Imagine shed na sa kanila matatawag ang bamboo table and chair. We to pay P1,500 and we are not allowed to used our tent bawal daw pwde gumamit pag ng rent ng shed nla sabi ko nga diba public ito kuya bakit ganun? Di daw talaga kasi ganun daw talaga kalakaran.so no choice nag rent kami. Bawat falls may bayad at may entrance fee which is 20p per head and 50p for parking. Parang sobra naman sila maningil Just because they knew that it's a tourist destination. This is our experience to our own province of pangasinan I'm so disappointed.

There is no entrance fee, the beach is clean, the sand is beige, and there are a lot of cottages. You will have to pay for the cottages I think but you can just dump your things on the shoreline if you have somebody with you and you beach is calling you to take a dip. Kids selling different kinds of souvenirs will swarm on you like ants but they sell items for as low as P15 so I was able to buy many.

There is no entrance fee but everything is sold super overpriced and they charge you for almost everything you do there.

We went there recently April 17, 2015 and we will not come back anymore.

To give you an idea we went there for overnight, we need to rent a small nipa hut that on for 4,000 pesos which include a cottage outside.

The thing that irked us the most was, there are no water and toilet in the nipa huts. You need to go outside which they will charge you for
3 pesos - urine
5 pesos - poop
10 pesos - shower

Image if you have 20 people going overnight, how much will it cost you for each time you will have a call of nature.

Also you will need to wait for LONG LINES to take a shower and here is the catch the water supply always goes out, so you need to go to the water pump to fetch for yourself, STILL you need to pay 10 pesos because you don't have a choice.

The attendant was also rude when we aired our sentiments how come there is no more water and we still to pay the same thing and we where told WE CANNOT COMPLAIN, what the hell was that? you are providing a service that is not existent and you don't want to receive complain?

Also you will need to pay for parking, if you go overnight it will be charged twice.
buses - 80
jeepney - 60

Food prices are overpriced to 500 for a plate of a few pieces of fried chicken.

If you go unprepared you will be surprised of how much you will spend there which will turn out higher than if you just went on a private resort with MUCH BETTER AMENITIES.

Bring YOUR OWN FOOD AND TENT so you can go cheap here but if you will be renting their cottages and spending the night over, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE as you will see it will be more relaxing.

Also the beach is not that good, to many corals where I and my colleagues got bruises.
