The cruise on the Shennong Stream was beautiful and educational with the guide pointing out many features as we went along, including the "hanging coffins" and wildlife. The boat passengers were transferred to smaller wooden boats which were poled along the shallow stream, again with...More

The tour was on the Shennong River and not on a bus but a large boat, travelling up the river for an hour. The gorges we passed through were extremely beautiful and better than that, natural and relaxing. A hanging coffin was pointed out to...More

This was our second day excursion on our Yangtze River Cruise. You transfer to a smaller ship and go up the Shennong river and once it narrows you transfer to Sanpans and get rowed and pulled along. It was a very fun trip

We went here as part of our Yangtze river cruise. We transferred to a smaller boat and went down the stream and back. The scenery was beautiful and we saw the hanging coffins.

This ‘stream’ is an offshoot of the Yangtze that takes you through a narrow gorge for around 10 miles. There's some interesting things to see on route- caves (one of which is very large), small villages, spectacular bridges and, strangely, small dried up coffins planted...More
