First let me say that, if you plan to go here, get some really good directions ahead of time. The parking area is located BEFORE you get to the museum entrance ($, free toilets). You then walk along a single lane road/bike/pedestrian path to get...More

It was a bit of a walk to get to this interesting museum but it was worth it! Using actual diary entries and other historic sources, the museum curators did an awesome job of bringing the stories of the fortress to life--from the engineers who...More

This fortress was built in 1939-1941 to protect the Swiss border from German invading forces. Interesting insight into the construction and capabilities of the Swiss people during this time, bring a jacket its cold all the time.

This was worth the trip from Luzern to see. It was a bit confusing walking from the train station to the fortress, but thankfully we found a map in town to point the way. The fort is only open on the weekends though, so plan...More

Thanks to Rick Steves (who I cannot stand btw) I heard about this museum. It's very interesting and the workers are helpful. It was the only reasonably priced attraction that I had any interest in seeing during my short 2 night stay in Zurich! It...More

We had a private tour with an "old" veteran. With his insights back into his childhood when this place was built we also took benefit of his senior military position and experience. It was really fun to see this impressive building and the structures and...More

Very interesting to see how well thought out every aspect of defense and long term living was and would have been. It’s an easy walk through tunnels where you can access the corridors and rooms. There is an audio tour, also easy to use. Take...More

A great way to discover the real deal behind all the rumors about swiss fortresses and military. The visit is absolutely worth the entrance fee and don't hesitate to ask the guides for additional information. These volunteers know the answers to any of the questions...More

I had read about extensive Swiss secret defenses but seeing this site in person was fascinating. Our guide was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable young man with good English skills. The fortress is not huge but it presents very well. Still has a couple of the...More

I don't know since I traveled there on a canned tour. Still, it should be easy to choose a ferry company because the port & ferries are across the plaza from the Luzern train station. Inquire there and get immediate and... More
