We had the immense pleasure of visiting the Protagonist today. A symbolic name given the fact that in a world where so many vineyards are at the mercy of high chemical use and a low tolerance of the natural processes we find a main player for the environment producing an ethical , skilfully crafted and highly sustainable product, an award winner both in the world of wine making and a champion for the environment. Beware pretenders- organic without certification is not and will never be the real 'thing'. In contrast, proudly displayed at Tscharke is the NASA certification - hard won and hard kept they own it and live by it- the certification underlines this.
Our tasting were orchestrated with finesse by the delightful and passionate Connie. Time and care were taken and we were treated to a genuine experience full of elevated narratives and wonderful diversity in history, tastings and provenance. Thank you , thank you. We walked away with bottles full of passion and celebration of a fine art and a commitment to excellence in every way.

Tscharkes was the last winery on a full day tour of the Barossa. OMG it was an absolute stand out! The cellar door is absolutely gob smacking and the wine was humble and well priced. If you’re in the Barossa, this place is a must.

We visited the lovely winery at Tscharke's when they opened their doors after harvest for members of their wine club. Love the philosophy of Damien and his small team and their fabulous wines. Great to meet all the team and see the inner workings of the winery. Very relaxed and informal 90 mins and a fabulous tasting at every station. The highlight was meeting Damien in his amazing underground cellar and hearing all about his plans. Top notch wines at a very reasonable price and we are pleased to be able to support Tscharke Wines.

Damien arranged for Marco to present the wines plus the philosophy of the vineyard. Unbelievable tasting room with barrels & amphorae. Spent a long time answering our questions Re biodynamic wines. Wines were excellent and price ranged from very reasonable to top end.

The wines - great taste and reasonable prices. Maddie our host on 2 of our recent visits is not only a wealth of knowledge about their wines and the winery; she is a delightful host. The cellar is uncluttered and stunning. A very enjoyable visit. We will return again soon, and bring friends. Thanks, Marie & Lindsay.

What a surprise! They had tastings set out inside and outside at different stations which was lovely with arrows pointing us to the next station. I won’t say what we found when we entered the Cellar because it will spoil the surprise. Amazing I loved it and we loved the wines too!

What a gorgeous little place. We booked a tasting, and were blown away by the new- school wines. We were recommended by a young gun winemaker. The wines did not disappoint! Light, bright, fun and ethically sound... and very reasonably priced. Our host was very knowledgeable, funny and engaging. It was a gorgeous day, and a fantastic experience.– needless to say, we came home with a boot full of wine. A definite must, for an off the beaten track cool cellar door .. make sure you book for a seated tasting.

Visited this gorgeous winery for the second time last weekend. Friendly service great good priced wines and a fire bucket outside . While we were tasting my husband the designated driver was shown the cellar which he is still talking about.
Highly recommend!

Hi,
Is there an option for public grape picking available
Kristen M
Marananga, Australia
Thank you for the enquiry regarding public grape picking at Tscharke's Place. Alas, it isn't an option on offer for a number of reasons. We would be delighted though to take you though a very thorough tasting of our wines explaining how each one is made and why we've chosen the varieties we work with.
