U can see many of islands which suppose belong to Japan in the sunny day. This place is rather different from other area in Japan, I guessed. Somehow rather u can feel the feeling of Japanese wishing Russia returning those islands which belong to them...More

We went bird watching at Cape Nosappu in January. There was snow everywhere and the wind was bitter. We spent a couple of session here sheltering by the lighthouse looking out over the Straights towards the islands. There was no shortage of sea ducks offshore....More

We visited here for a full day's birdwatching on a Saturday in mid-January 2015. The town itself was very quiet and little appeared to be open. However, there are some interesting 'peace' sculptures and commerations which are worth seeing if you are in this area...More

After driving to the town of Nosappu on the Nemuro hanto Peninsula follow the path down to the ocean. It is the furthest east in Japan (Nippon) and on our round world. Be the first in the day to see the sun raise.
