Great accommodation in Hakuba. Ski-in ski-out from Cortina Ski Resort, a powder paradise with plenty of own responsibility area, which is still rare in Japan. Resort are suitable from beginners to advanced skiers/snowboarders. Buffet style dinner are perfect after a great day in the mountain...More
We enjoyed a day trip to Cortina and the place was virtually deserted. My wife enjoyed the olsen, given its size and views of the resort. The only annoying thing was the constant blaring of pop music over the crackling speakers that you couldn’t escape...More

as for the powder, have you experienced much before, maybe in Banff? assuming you are comfortable turning on groomed runs i would say you will be fine! speed will be your friend and possibly setting up your bindings closer towards the tail of your board will definitely help you with floating over the snow!
enjoy yourself, its incredible over there!
