We visited over the Japanese long weekend- bad decision - CRAZY busy. So many people going super fast and sometimes out of control. The snow was icy but they did have a dump the day we left which would have helped. The free shuttles are...More

I started on day 1 as a beginner and by the end of day 4 I was coming down intermediate runs without a worry. It’s a great place to learn, plenty of lessons available if you want. Plenty of space on the runs for everyone....More

Really liked skiing here. Part of the bigger Hakuba Valley group which increases options. Village is very spread out so a good accommodation location is essential.

Lots of hotels and places to stay to cater for all budgets, we come every year but we have not found one hotel we would return to as the distance from ski lifts Varys and the local shuttle service is sporadic. Better to really research...More

Happone is one of the biggest ski hill is in Hakuba and located centrally, very close to Hakuba station. Very good snow conditions and a hefty 1000 m elevation from the top station to the bottom of the hill, basically ski back to Happo center....More

I was excited to explore Happy one after being in Hakuba for 2 months but was not overwhelmed. There were a lot of people on the mountain and I felt like I spent the majority of the day on a chair lift or in line....More

For the beginner to the dedicated skier, the whole area has many runs; from well groomed, gentle beginners runs to challenging off-piste forest runs.

We skied at Happo One for 3 days - first day was warm and rainy which made for terrible conditions; second day was cold and snowy all day which was incredible, the powder was so soft and fluffy, the best day of skiing we've experienced...More

Ski Hakuba mid feb 2017. Multiple mtns in Hakuba, Happo one is the largest. All mountains have shorter runs than the us but snow quality is superb and lift lines short.

My partner and I stayed here during winter in Feb. Happo One is pretty quite for a ski-centred town but you can find the odd bustling pub if that's what you're after. The main two areas (Happo and Echoland) are easy to walk between, and...More

Yes. There is a good balance of English speakers and Japanese during the ski season. Spicy rentals does everything in English and would probably be able to hook you up with an appropriate place for ski instruction.
