The forbidden city

Three years after the earthquake, the city center of Camerino is still a "forbidden" area. The gate of Palazzo Ducale is locked and one can only look through the rods. So, at the moment one can only have a short walk starting from the central square (piazza Cavour) in ghost city, where almost nobody lives anymore. A sad, touching experience ...

amazing view of the medieval gardens

One enters a large spacious area which leads to various buildings which house the university of Camerino. Walk over to the balcony and admire the view over the countryside towards the mountains. Then look down towards the gardens which are arranged in a pattern of flower beds reminiscent of the medieval herb gardens that would have provided the medical potions and cures ineeded by the inhabitants of the town. The gardens are accessible down a staircase.
