Called here yesterday- it’s small but very informative- I’ve read the Orkneyinga Saga and found the family tree very funny in the way they used modern characters to illustrate the earls. We didn’t stay to watch the film this time because I have seen it...More

The Centre has interesting information about the history of this particular spot. In particular about the Earl.

Another of the must visit sites on Orkney. Mid week, mid afternoon and we were there alone. some decent walks around but the path was closed when we visited. Stacks of car parking.

An unmanned but well looked after visitor centre with lots of information about the Earls Bu and Round Church. An excellent 17 minute Video to explain the Saga

We walked from Breck to see the church ruins and found this little visitor centre with its hilarious hierarchical tree of Norse characters sporting the faces of modern actors as well as information boards and an enjoyable film which included a couple of Icelandic/Orcadian sagas.

Small and simple but so well put together with displays and an enchanting film which tells the story about Orkney's links to Vikings and Iceland in a way that's both beautiful, informative and entertaining. However don't just visit the centre and the interesting adjoining cemetery...More

Met the lady who runs this with her cute dog. She is there to not only tell the myths and legends of the Orkneys, but to encourage reading programs with her historical materials. Attractive exhibits and a pile of books for the young students, she...More
