This one is a quiet little Buddhist temple which is ancient. The place around is a bit untidy with lots of stray dogs and animals around but once you reach the complex, you can feel peace and tranquility.

You should know history before you visit. In the festival season, it's so colourful. You can go there by your vehicle But avoid mid day time, as it's difficult to bare that temperature

The Tissa Dagoba is an ancient Buddhist temple in Tissamaharama. A bit different then the other we have seen on our trip in Sri Lanka. It's beautiful, when you leave the Dagoba, cross the road and visit the Sandagiri Stupa as well.

This gigantic dagoba is a majestic structure to behold. Admiring the dagoba from afar, with its reflection in the padi fields, was the perfect postcard view for me.

It was a great experience to see the Tissa Dagoba on our trip to Kataragama. If you have the chance to visit this place in the evenings it will be most impressive.

Nice temple for a quick stop on your way. We have been there in October (off season) where it was not at all a tourist's place.

Luckily we had a local who explained the importance of this stupa. Its amazing how much more you learn when you listed to someone compared to just observing an attraction.

The biggest in Sri Lanka. If you visit that area you can pass by it but the only unique is size and it is the oldest as per my guide.
