In the summer of 2018 we (Dutch familie of 4, kids 13 and 18) travelled to discover the beauties of Sri Lanka. You can see the stupa or dagoba from far away, and since we were there on a Sunday, there were a lot of...More

Huge white stupa that towers over Tissa and is only a short walk from the lake front. Like any Buddhist temple you'll have to adhere to the dress code, no shoes and cover shoulders and above the knees. Very serene and placid atmosphere even though...More

This place was on our way so we stopped by. A quiet place to visit. It is a large structure and supposed to be very old, dating back to 2000 years. It is worth a visit if it is on your way.

A famous Buddhist religious place situated in downsouth, Tissa Dagoba is a good place to visit since it will not require much time to visit the temple, if you are passing Tissamaharamaya in your journey.

This one is a quiet little Buddhist temple which is ancient. The place around is a bit untidy with lots of stray dogs and animals around but once you reach the complex, you can feel peace and tranquility.

You should know history before you visit. In the festival season, it's so colourful. You can go there by your vehicle But avoid mid day time, as it's difficult to bare that temperature

The Tissa Dagoba is an ancient Buddhist temple in Tissamaharama. A bit different then the other we have seen on our trip in Sri Lanka. It's beautiful, when you leave the Dagoba, cross the road and visit the Sandagiri Stupa as well.

This gigantic dagoba is a majestic structure to behold. Admiring the dagoba from afar, with its reflection in the padi fields, was the perfect postcard view for me.
