Make sure you download the app for the phone which acts as a guidebook for the parts of the monastery that one is able to visit. Details- and key to gain access, from the shop/welcome centre. Interesting to see the church and particularly impressive crypt. We would have loved to hear the monks singing in plain chant, but we were not lucky with our timings. Worth checking out by internet beforehand, or opting to stay in the adjacent hotel, as this is mostly in the evenings. Views over the reservoir were glorious.

The visit is made in two phases. But first, you must go to the store to buy your tickets and get the keys. You´ll have to leave a 5 euros deposit that will be returned when you give back the keys. You have to unlock and re-lock the crypt and the church. In the store you can also get a nice brochure that explains the buildings and the history of the monastery. On their web page you can check masses and Gregorian chants schedules. We first went to the crypt, the oldest part, and a large corridor known as Saint Virila´s tunnel. The crypt seems to be very heavy, with short arches and low columns. Then you have to surround the monastery to reach the church´s main door or Porta Speciosa, with impressive bass reliefs that spread the Catechism. When we used the key to open the door we realized there was a mass going on. It was peaceful to hear the monks singing, but we decided to close it again and returned after lunch, in the same Monastery.

For soul seekers, the marvelous gregorian chants, along the tranquility of nearby nature, will bring you to that state that you never want to leave. Highly recommended

It’s a bit out of the way and looks nice from the distance but very disappointed with your. Not much open to see and the tomb tour lasts 5 mins and was a real let down. If you go just walk around out side for free as you will see most of it.
