Went to 2 operas la boheme and tosca in july 2017.travelled from lucca by coach round trip.wonderful arena and beautiful setting on the lake with good seats.
The operas were really well performed .the operas start around 2115 and finish after midnight.highly recommended.
Delighted to return to Largo having been there previously in 2005, for Madame Butterfly and Tosca. The auditorium has improved substantially but the seats are just as uncomfortable as before and the queues for the toilets unbearable and totally impractical -but only if you are...More
We saw Turandot and LaRondine in a row. Great music, nice performance. Especially LaRondine, less famous opera of Puccini. We thought it would be difficult to reach the Festival complex and to park, but it was very well organised. Just a few tips for Opera...More
We saw Boheme performed - and loved it. The event is great for the music and just as good for people-watching too.
It's best to be reasonably smart - though some men did wear shorts. It's also fine to really dress up. (there seemed to...More
We saw Turandot and were very happy with both the production and the orchestra and singers. My friends who love opea and have been looking at this festival as a second rate one have now acknowledged it's becoming better and really worth seeing.
Visited in August 2016 to see performance of Madam Butterfly. I usually like to buy the best tickets I can for such an event well in advance but since this is open air, top price tickets at £130 each, and given all the t &...More
Watched Madama Butterfly, Tosca and Turandot (August 2016) - the open air theatre is spacious, comfortable and clean. Staff are friendly and engaging. Quality of the opera was very high. Butterfly was mediocre but Tosca and Turandot were very good. Surrounding area was beautiful. If...More
Against the heavenly backdrop of the lake and mountains we were treated to a meteor sighting against a veil of the milky way during the last night of Tosca!!!Breathtaking.Bonus to see talented soprano Deborah Vincenzi performing in the chorus!
Of course if you want to hear the great singers with great acoustics don't expect them at an open air opera festival. We saw Boheme and Turandot. I thought the productions were excellent, beautifully staged and the setting is beautiful. We were in the centre...More
A beautiful venue, especially on a lovely summer evening. The stage sets were exceptional (smoke from chimneys, for example), the music divine. As with any performance, you're a bit at the mercy of the artists and their performances. But I think this is more a...More
