About
The Aletsch Arena resorts have much in common: being part of the Alps' first UNESCO World Heritage Site. The views of the imposing 400-metre Valais peaks. Their proximity to the Great Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps. And yet, Riederalp, Bettmeralp and Fiesch-Eggishorn each have their own distinctive character - which means you can find your very own favourite holiday destination in the most liberating nature experience of the Alps.

Fantastic holiday place
Jan 2020 • Friends
Another fantastic New Year celebration and winter sport in the snows of Bettmeralp. Excellent ski slops, majority very broad with a lot of space which enables safe skying and a lot of joy.

Bergsteiger zemtrum - Worst guides - incredibly unsafe
Aug 2019 • Couples
We hired a guided tour over the glacier with the Bergsteiger Zemtrum in Fiesch and it was the most unsafe experience. The guides took us over the Glaciar on a heavy rain without crampons.
Moreover, after specifically requesting an English speaker guide, they assigned us to a group in which the guide spoke no English.
Despite of asking in advanced if the tour was complicated and aereal for someone with fear of heights, the walk was almost imposible to do because of the slipery ice, huge gaps on the floor and the lack of proper equipment.
Worst guided tour ever which destroyed what could had been an amazing experience.

nice place but a pity that wandering plates with hiking times were not accurate to arrive to Marjelensee and Aletschstube, otherwise, fine

Stunning views of the glacier.
Jun 2019 • Friends
The tour we were on took the Moosfluh cable car to the top and then walked down into Aletschwald, an area of pine and spruce woodland which drops away towards the great glacier with superb photo opertunities.

Fantastic hike to the Aletsch Glacier
Aug 2018
A special area of unique beauty - walking on the glacier was so interesting and the size of it was immense.

nice skiïng area
Mar 2019 • Family
The other skiïng area... no cars only people! Quiet, quiet, quiet! The air is that fresh you almost can smell it! Nice, mostly easy slopes. Only downside: you have to take a large lift to reach the area taking along all your luggage (and I think that can be stressful during populair periods)

Day Trip skiing
Feb 2019 • Family
Let me warn you that this is a very noisy, disorganised place.
We arrived fist thing in the morning to find a huge que of people waithing right across the car park with trollies laden with suit cases and ski gear waiting to get the one lift up to the third floor where the gondelar up to the village departs. This floor was so packed with people becase only one godellar travells every 20 mins to the first level of the village and one every 20 mins to the ski resort area. Not only is it holiday makers queing but a mix of skiers/ staff and suppliers too.We arrived at 8.20 am and finally reached the first chailift to ski at 11.30.
Let me warn you too that because there are no vehicals allowed in the village at is a wash with agressive taxi ski-doo’s moving very quickly up and down the main road. So much so that my youngest nearly got hit twice and i once lifting her out the way, just on the walk to the restaurant.
Not to mention the constant noise up and down all day by these thing that never stop.
Yes it is a very beutiful veiw from the top but it is tarnished by the chaotic infre-structure that runs the place.

Glacial Periods Artwork
Oct 2018 • Family
We chose to view this magnificent glacier from Bettmerhorn viewpoint and that is how you can reach there. If you come by a car, paid parking is available at the base station (Bettentalstation). From here you take the cable car to reach Bettmeralp and then walk about 1km through this small village towards Bettmer lake to reach the cable car station for Bettmerhorn and then finally to the Bettmerhorn view point.
Bettmeralp: Beautiful village with nice views (hiking or cable car is the only way to reach here as it is a car free zone). It has a small Bazar where you will find few shops to eat and drink or to buy a souvenir. Bettmer lake is very beautiful and you can also rent a boat to be in the middle of it. Mini golf and a small playing area for the children were also there.
Bettmerhorn: Restaurant at the top is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the views (we did not eat there though). From here in just 1-2 minutes you will reach the view point (few wooden benches are there nearby to relax and enjoy a sunny day) to witness the longest glacier in the Alps and a mighty creation of glacial periods. You can also view Matterhorn peak from here and for better/360 degree views you can hike further up to the Cross. Next to the restaurant there was also an exhibition area.
Viewing the glacier from Eggishorn is another option so you can compare with Bettmerhorn (price and fun) to decide.

Quaint car-free town up in the Swiss Alps with a jewel of a 9-hole pitch-and-putt golf course
Sep 2018 • Couples
If you want to get away from the bustle of urban life try this jewel of a Swiss mountaintop town, Riederalp, next to the grand Aletsch Arena glacier. Not far from Jungfrau. The town that legendary developer Art Furrer built. No cars. Few residents. But great for biking, hiking and paragliding in summer. And to play a quick round of golf on a short but most charming and picturesque 9-hole course.

Would it be possible to do hiking and walking along the glacier in early November (first week of Nov)? Is the cable car available? What are the suggested routes if we have a day and plan to walk and hike for 5-7 hours?

Will it snow second half of november? I'm planning to bring my kids for a good snow fun; they're between 8 and 14 years old. And I'm thinking it'll be either Bettmeralp or Riederalp.

Hello and thank you for your request. Last year we got some snow on the second half of november, so we could open the skilifts on the weekends of 19/20 and 26/27 November. But normally we open our ski area on the second weekend of December. If you have further questions, just let us know.
Best regards and hopefully see you soon.
